http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/birmingham-hammers.2025332/#post-33030529 http://www.birminghamhammers.com/ I see you noticed but nobody else. Same division as Chattanooga will be good for away crowds maybe.
I think that would be the rivalry. Birmingham and Chattanooga play against each other in the same baseball league. I think it would be good. Also, I created a Birmingham Hammers thread in the NPSL section.
although you are mostly right, Chattanooga are one of the few exceptions. Birminhgam does not seem like a soccer stronghold by any mean's there must be a few in a bigish (for this level) city who would turn up.
The hammers averaged 2000 a game for an exhibition schedule which would be pretty respectable for Npsl standards
AFC Mobile has been created. They are no affiliated and are trying to start up. Just like Birmingham did. Teams are starting to turn up all over Alabama. The game will start to pick up more and more every year after Atlanta starts play.

Yes I went on Facebook to find them. Clicked on the about us and found their web address ( linked above ). With Mobile getting a club what we need is to see a club in Huntsville. Outside of Alabama I would like to see a club in Memphis.
I never saw them "getting a club" in their description. Only a supporter group hoping to build on that ... no team, no league, very early. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Unless I missed where they had owners and a league for 2016!?
Very much the same way as the Birmingham Hammers As per the first line of their website " this is the official launch of AFC Mobile the future soccer team of Mobile "
Correct but read the above edited post above or better yet visit thier site http://afcmobile.weebly.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html
I did read their site, which is why I said what I did. There is no team and they're not in a league yet, just a supporters group or sorts, trying to advocate for one and get support behind them. Not saying that in a negative way ... but, I did read the site and was correct, you're the one who had to edit your post ... so maybe you needed to re read the post.
I thought Huntsville had some kind of team? Maybe not. However, it would be good for Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile to all have clubs. I was correct in my posting about Mobile. Will anything happen? I don't know. But, it is better than not trying to build a team.
May have jumped ahead of myself ther I wish them luck also the Little Rock Rangers have applied to join the NPSL. Here is a link to their site http://www.littlerockrangers.com
Does Huntsville have a club ? I didn't even consider Montgomery but yeah the more clubs the better . It's a shame that these clubs won't be at the pro level but they have to start somewhere. I would wager that the soccer landscape will look very different by the start of the next decade in North America. Alot of things happening at all levels it seems. Wonder what the earliest that the Hammers can enter into the US Open Cup ? I know that the NPSL has identified the 13 clubs that have already qualified. Is there a way for them to qualify this year ?
Well that's a snazzy looking logo they've got going on. Really wondered why no team in the US has gone with blue, maroon and gold. Those colors go so well together
http://thecup.us/2015/09/22/2016-us...nounced-for-open-division-amateur-tournament/ This would have been a way to get in not through the NPSL. Not sure if it's too late or not (assume so).
Birmingham can play in the 2017 US Open Cup. All 4 of the largest cities in Alabama had AA baseball teams. That is until Huntsville lost their team due to the stadium. I do not see why all 4 cities could have pro soccer. I think the people in Mobile are trying to do the same thing that happened in Birmingham. Get organized, field a team for exhibition, and try to join NPSL. I know the Birmingham people wanted USL straight out of the gate.
Starting to look like the southeast region needs something like the Great Lakes Premier League. A little regional league to help teams get their legs under them before aiming for something a little higher. I mean, the GLPL has, I guess you could say, 'promoted' two teams to the NPSL already in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, both of which were denied entry to the NPSL on the first try, but after showing they were solid, got to move up.
