Just read this fluff piece for the Spokane Chiefs looking for more host families. http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/jun/19/chiefs-depend-on-host-families-to-house-help/ They have had the relationship with the same high school since at least the 90s. Similar set ups could be a real possibility for teams not looking to create a residency with dorms etc. What I would like to see, is this being used with the MLS's USL-Pro teams and the signing of younger players. Perhaps hire someone from these Hockey teams who has experience dealing with Billeting.
I think FC Dallas does something similar, I know they have a relationship with the Frisco ISD, and have students form outside the area who aren't in a dorm or residence of the club, but I couldn't tell you all the details..
