Seems big enough to have its own thread (as opposed to going into the season thread) Bill Hamid will not return to D.C. United next season, won't say what is next. Story to come ... #dcu #mls #usmnt— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) October 18, 2017
Not a real surprise after what we have heard the past few weeks. Hopefully the team can spend that cap space wisely.
Not for Bill, I hope. Here's an update: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-return-to-d-c-united/?utm_term=.e1904f271572
Hopefully Bill ends up in a good situation and hopefully he plays Sunday. Bill is ready to move on and deserves a shot to prove himself. United is a terrible team and can use the money to fill other needs.
There are other keepers out there. He saved our bacon a lot. Another plus is that if we don’t adequately replace him Ben will be further exposed.
Not a surprise at all. But one more reason to wave goodbye to this whole godforsaken organization on Sunday. If they don't give him the farewell start he deserves on Sunday.... Is Denmark really going to push him though? Maybe from the standpoint of a new culture, new language, etc. But the soccer isn't much to write home about. Certainly another physical league though
Vladimir Lenin applauded the beginning of World War I, because he felt that watching millions of young men go die for nothing would hasten the revolution. He was right, of course. How will you feel when Ben gets exposed?
Glad for Bill, this really isn’t a surprise. Wish him the best going forward. If he makes it big in Europe, at least I can say, “I remember him when......”
Not a single drop of blood will appear when Ben gets fired and we are on the road to progress sooner. Your analogy is way off.
If Acosta was smart, he'd ask for a transfer. I'm sure some team in Mexico or Argentina would pay a 6 figure transfer fee. He's not developing his game here at all. There is no learning curve. Basically lost years in a career. And if Birnbaum was smart, he'd sit out next year and just take the paycheck just like Rolfe did this year. You only get one head. Arriola, Canouse and Stieber will need another season for the disillusionment to set in.
He's not particularly smart. He plays mostly like a punk immature kid. He needs a coach like Nowak to try and slap some common sense into his head. And then we'll find out if we have someone who's a leader, or just another guy who pouts like Freddy Adu.
Fook em' let Clark further sully the team's record at RFK. With Hamid's luck some imbecile will break his legs
Hamid can take a spin on that line from Norma Desmond. I'm still big it's DC United that's small Good luck and good health and thanks for making us better.
Second source says Bill Hamid is going to sign with @fcmidtjylland in Denmark #dcu #mls #usmnt— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) October 19, 2017
Interesting. The owner Matthew Benham apparently made his money to buy this club and one in England from sports bets winnings. And, apparently is very into soccer analytics.
Correction. This is more a DC United thing than an MLS thing. Play a couple of seasons for Ben and a even a gig in Antarctica might start sounding good. Most other MLS teams don't lose players to leagues like Denmark anymore. I just skimmed over Midtjylland's roster, and I'm not convinced that DC could beat them. They have x Real Madrid/Tottenham man Rafael Van Der Vaart for starters. Interestingly, Marcus Halsti is on that roster, although it doesn't seem like he gets many appearances. Honestly, as bad as DC is, Midtjylland might be a lateral move at worst. They won Danish league 3 seasons ago. And they got into Europa League knockout round the following season. They've qualified for Europe 4 seasons in a row. And this season they're only 1 point out of first place ... looks like another genuine title run. Those are probably more exciting career experiences than anything DC could offer. And considering Bill's experience with RFK and our lack of training facility, even the infrastructure at Midtjylland might feel like an upgrade. 12K stadium, smaller than our new stadium ... but cute :
Guy did nothing at Betis. Haven't seen him play recently but assume he's got nothing left. Half his family is from Anadalucía and he was signed to Betis three seasons ago with great fanfare and then next to nothing from him.
Bill could be saving shots by Messi and Pogba in the next few years depending on circumstances and competitions. Not a dumb move at all and excited to see it
