Would Fraser be included because of his international appearance or is there something else mentioned in his profile?

International recognition plays a part of it, because it mentions a (pretty accurate, I'd say!) saying of how England-based players have to play six times as well as Scottish-based players to earn a cap. Other than that, it mostly traces his career and has some vague platitudes how "this total mastery of opposition has made him one of the most respected players in the game".

Were you asking this legitimately? Wiki has the line-ups for the FA-cup final.

It was a play on words. Just some 'color' for the thread.

    @Tom Stevens @PDG1978
It would be good to open the 68-69 thread. I (we) don't want to seize this one with preliminary players.

It's Tom's project mate, so I'm not involved in that kind of stuff, but of course will be ready to contribute my own ideas and lists when it does open. At this stage though I haven't really made any inroads into narrowing down my probable shortlist of 6 (though it's possible someone else could enter the equation) into my podium vote, and outside of that I've just had a few thoughts about probable/possible inclusions.

If and when it does open I'd be looking out for the post of @peterhrt concerning Eastern European Player of the Year voting (although calendar year it gives a good input for us).

I don’t want people to feel rushed by continuing this timeline while about half the people have not voted.

I am actually thinking about a third timeline though. Any suggestions? Interwar? 90s?

I would prefer to continue orderly. In fact, I had already begun to gather some information from the 1968-69 season ...

Getting off topic, but combining my estimations over both the 66/67 and 67/68 seasons, I seem to have a potential top dozen players over that period as something like this myself:
    1: Best, 2: B.Charlton, 3: Cruyff, 4: Rivera, 5: Eusebio, 6: Mazzola, 7: Dzajic, 8: Pele, 9: Albert, 10: Beckenbauer, 11: Johnstone, 12: Tostao

If adding another half year (beginning of 1966) to make the 2.5 years comme bases his 'best players in the world' attempts on (when replicating the FourFourTwo lists etc) for example, I would think Pele and Beckenbauer would be moving up and I guess Cruyff and Dzajic moving down (even though the approach with those lists that comme follows is to weight things towards recent times within the period - in this case the period ending mid 1968).

Off topic also, but thinking of the old Ballon d'Or voting process (not reflected, understandably in our project - I did add a feasible FIFA style results list for 66/67 but the main 'results' are Tom's winner/podium/TOTS posts of course), I might have been going with this (although would be a bit uncertain on confirming the Man Utd players in there for 66/67 and wouldn't rule out Eusebio I don't think for example for 67/68):
66/67 - Cruyff, Albert, Johnstone, Charlton, Best
67/68 - Best, Charlton, Dzajic, Rivera, Gerson

 I'd have Best a bit lower and Eusebio in the top three but otherwise this is a good effort. Pele and Albert maybe above Mazzola and Dzajic.

I'm not sure if they were unavailable for everyone temporarily or it was just a connection issue for me when I tried before, but they are available again now anyway (I noticed that since some site upgrade the 3rd place matches don't show ratings now, but every other match still shows the France Football ratings - viewed by clicking on the fixture/scoreline, except for the Final where just a click on the 'pitch' is required).

I think I do have a provisional shortlist of 30 for 1969/70 now, so I might as well share that first draft of names in case it helps with any tips (although a lot of the names are fairly obvious probably):

Doing it geographically again with no estimated ordering:
    Gordon Banks
    Bobby Moore
    George Best
    Peter Osgood
    Rinus Israel
    Wim van Hanegem
    Johan Cruyff
    Ove Kindvall
    Franz Beckenbauer
    Gunter Netzer
    Wolfgang Overath
    Gerd Muller
    Gianni Rivera
    Sandro Mazzola
    Luigi Riva
    Kazimierz Deyna
    Wlodzimierz Lubanski
    Dragan Dzajic
    Albert Shesternyov
    Anatoliy Byshovets
    Ladislao Mazurkiewicz
    Pedro Rocha
    Carlos Alberto
    Clodoaldo
    Gerson
    Rivelino
    Jairzinho
    Pele
    Tostao
    Teofilo Cubillas
