No. Like I said, show me the racists posts. beni....................... was just called out on his BS and exposed as a racist poster. Teso Dos Bitchos is a known instigator as well. While I do agree us Mexicans can be emotionally carried away, it is wrong and highly unethical to suggest racism is the norm in the Mexican forums.

This is a wishlist tread. While the discussion is, um, something, it is mostly full of nothing. Please bring it back on topic.

Typical apologist bullshit which is par for the course whenever anyone dares to mention the cluster******** you guys have created with the lawless Mexican section of this site.

It is clearly on topic as it refers to a wish to sort out the clear deficiencies in the existing moderating system which are having a detrimental impact on the site. This includes:
    • A lack of online moderators that span timezones. I can frequently log in mid-morning in Europe to find only two active staff members listed. Clearly this is not sufficient.
    • Failure of communication. I have yet to receive any correspondence relating to this bogus yellow card. No explanation. No admission of who issued it. No timeframe. No conditions. Nothing. The same applies to reported posts. This is unacceptable and highlights a complete lack of transparacy.
    • Lack of consistency. As identified above you can be racist and break all sorts of TOS on the Mexican boards with free-reign but if anyone posts anyone even remotely negative involving a Mexican player you receive a flood of whiny posts and you are actively reported regardless of where you actually posted. Clearly it is one rule for them no doubt based on trying to retain their posting number purely for advertising revenue. Before said Mexican posters opt to throw another tantrum I am using them as a clear example that most can relate to.
    • Refusal to engage in the issue as proven by your unilateral attempt to bury the issue.
There are boards that are lawless, there are boards that actively operate as dictatorships and stifle any outside interactive and there are boards where the moderators constantly disagree and overrule each other.

This is not conducive to a good forum and it is a far cry from BS 'in the good old days' when rivals fans would actively post across boards and some of the shared boards, such as The Beautiful Game, were highlights of the forum.

Now you have an increasing number of the old guard departing and these are people who would posts lengthy responses and actually engage with issues in a mature manner. They have been replaced in number but not quality.

Previously some of the main threads on The Beautiful Game were amongst the most popular on the boards. Now the most popular threads are almost entirely NSR and merely an extension of the old reputation/post-count whoring type. As for The Beautiful Game itself it is basically just a board for the odd draft and Bada Bing to pollute with his pro-Messi pish in every single thread.

I have raised these issues over several years and nothing has happened. The question going forward is do you want a forum that contains clearly separate communities with little interaction, erratic moderation, if any, and high post counts but little actual football content or do you want to stop the rot?

I'm hoping the new ownership will have the balls to take action now, starting with the moderating shambles, to sort out BS and get it back on track. That's my wish.

You really don't know my posting, nor my positions.

This is personal opinion, and trolling, and what you are getting sanctioned for. Along with disregarding my post.

No it is not. The OP clearly indicated that this was more of a technical discussion, not an administration/moderation issue. But, I will address some of the issue you brought up below.

A problem that is well known, but you offer no solution. This is not something that is eye opening to the moderators/admins of this forum.
1 - There is an auto message sent to you, unless modified, explaining why. And if modified, it still is sent. Check you messages, as it appears it was sent.
2 - Did you inquire with the mods of your forum? Did you inquire the the Supermods?

Do you want to post some evidence? (If so, start another thread.)

A very dangerous accusation that can easily cross over into the real of your perceived bias. You make the claim, which is easy, but site no evidence.
After having read this post a few times, it comes across as quite bitter, with accusations bearing no evidence. Further, as I said toward the top of this post, this thread is meant more of a technical improvements. If you have a complaint about "Mexican" moderators, start a thread.

Your longing for the "good old days" was when there were fewer posters, and fewer non-US/Western European posters.

This seems to be your issue, not the admin/mods issue. But here is always a want for improvement.

One final thought: You talk about the dysfunction of moderation across BigSoccer, but you only name two boards - The Beautiful Game which has been CR v. Messi for several years now, not to mention a few other characters, and the Mexican forum. And I find it interesting that you have specifically named the Mexicans, and not anybody else. Why is that?

    Your adding on is unnecessary.

you already know the answer to that question.

your attempt at getting teso to get some self reflection is a futile experiment.

his bigotry will not fade away overnight.

btw, my wish list is for bigsoccer to fix the broken links that happened when they switched from forum.bisoccer.com to forums.bigsoccer.com

Teso, behave. So many words but no true content. The matter of fact is you are a World Rivalries junky. Always have been. Your racist view of the world has clouded your judgment. My opinion is perhaps you are suited for other boards? My guess is that there are many boards out there in the web, perhaps one of them suits your needs? But to prevent from further derailing the thread from its original topic, I would say a personal wish is to bring back the option of contributing to the forum and as an incentive get a private, personal forum. I think Sid has one of those still.

I judge you based on your actions. As expected you instantly tried to shut down the conversation which is par for the course whenever the subject of moderation or the Mexican problem is raised. Thank you for proving me correct. The fact that you sanctioned me for trolling and publicly confirmed it to all speaks volumes. Again, I judge you by your actions. I am sure I am not the only one.

It is neither personal opinion nor trolling. It is personal experience and observation as proven, yet again, by the instant flood of Mexican posters here to fire accusations ranging from racism to bigotry to discrimination against me. I have reported these posts. I have received no communication from any moderator in relation to it. You have also failed to address the issues raised by another member and moderator. Why is this?

Ignoring the "flying pony that shits rainbows" and the various other unhelpful but unsanctioned posts by people I am apparently not allowed to mention the fact remains I have raised a pertinent issue about the future of the forums. Perhaps @Andy R or others can identify solutions from their experience elsewhere be it through a different approach or different software tools to make moderation easier and transparent for all? The thread title is "BigSoccer Wishlist". I have added my wish. We shall see if there is a solution. After all now is the time to sort out the inherent issues with the forums. We can add a billion different bells and whistles to the site, even a flying pony that shits rainbows, but if the root problems are not resolved they will only get worse to the detriment of all here. The phrase you cannot polish a turd immediately springs to mind. Solve the root problems, let things bed in and only then should we be adding superfluous functionality.

I thought this was the thread to discuss and investigate solutions. See above.

1 - Nothing has been sent.
2 - It is not my responsibility to investigate. If moderators do not even have the common decency to contact those they punish then they should not be moderators.

I raised this issue previously and nothing was done. To give a general example I was subjected to a multitude of 'comments' in relation to the country I was born with no action taken yet when I made a single Mexican remark, on my own board, instantly lots of crying Mexican posters starting throwing tantrums and reporting posts. It seems they can dish it out but not take it. This is the result of them being given free-reign to post on their board while also reporting, on mass, any criticism across the rest of BS. If we are going to have a serious discussion about the issue a simple glance at their boards will provide a wealth of evidence.

I have raised this issue with DK in relation to sole or few complainers versus the many. Take a simple glance at the number of threads/posts in the Mexican section compared to everywhere else. They clearly have a lot of posters who post frequently. This exacerbates the lax moderating and also creates additional work elsewhere when they start reporting any posts that hurt their feelings on other boards. It is a simple numbers game. Why deal with the problem when the problem is generating your income?

The complaint is site wide. If you claim to have seen no evidence your head is clearly in the sand or you have just not bothered looking. It is in this very thread.

I am longing for the days when football discussion was the primary reason for logging in. Discussion that would last for days. Discussion that would contain long, through-out posts. Discussion that would involve all, regardless of the specific board. Unfortunately BigSoccer has deteriorated to a state of small individual boards where football 'discussion' involves posting a picture or Tweet and NSR is king. Anyone who has been here beyond 5 years knows exactly the point I am making. Even our recent visitors from onenil identified the issues quickly and most soon moved back and/or elsewhere.

It is an issue for the site. If I want good football discussions there are now far better places containing many of the previously good posters who have deserted BS. The only thing that keeps me here is the community of people I have known for a decade. That pull can only last for so long when the core product continues to deteriorate. This is a chance to stop the rot. I hope the new owners take the opportunity. A simple comparison between popular threads today and 5+ years ago, particularly on boards like The Beautiful Game, is damning.

I named the The Beautiful Game because that board is the perfect example of what happens when the moderation goes to shit and free reign is given to fans of single players/teams. It was the go to place on the site. It then died a rapid death. Now I'm not blaming comme because he got left on his own for years, until recently but, again, this highlights the impact and need for good moderation.

I specifically named the Mexicans for three reasons. Firstly they have been, shall we say, problematic in recent months. The Hernandez thread on the Man Utd board was locked due to their inability to accept any criticism of their favourite. They then started immediately trolling, including tagging members into Mexcians Abroad threads, when Moreno assaulted and seriously injured Shaw. I'll let you do the background digging on that but suffice to say what they posted on their own board and what they complained about on the club board... You have seen some of this discussed here by a moderator from that club board. Secondly using them as an example is easy given their continued antics including in this thread. It perfectly highlights the issue. It is also a group the United States fans will have experienced, in one form or another, given their rivalry. Finally, they are the perfect example of a rapidly growing group of fans, who are poorly moderated on their own board, and take glee in reporting negative posts everywhere else because they are rabid fans of players instead of the clubs they play for. It causes a clear tension and pattern of behaviour that has been allowed to fester.

Real suggestion here, I use the notifications to go through the threads chronologically and read all the posts. Sometimes I get lost as to which ones I've already read, maybe there could be a different shadowed box on the ones that you haven't clicked yet and the ones you have? I know they have the yellow box for new ones that disappears once you look at them. Only a minor detail, because I really like the notifications system.

Yeah mine do too when I click the thread, I like to browse by clicking the alerts though. Sometimes you get tagged in threads you aren't subscribed to or some other situation, alerts keeps things the most chronological which is why I like browsing that way.

Outsider here, but it seems like a fan multiple teams wishes to go into another forum to discuss his favorite player abroad. That's fine and dandy...go into whatever forum you choose, but remember that you're a guest in that other forum and your favorite player may be criticised by posters who are season ticket holders for that club team.

If I was a regular viewer of (picks team at random) Liverpool matches and wanted to discuss their game against (picks team at random) Aston Villa, I suppose I could go into the Liverpool forum to discuss that match.

This seems to be the newer way.

What a lot of us MLS people seem to do is to stick to our forums. The Crew forum has a thread for euro/international, and thread for "other MLS teams." That way, we can talk about other MLS teams and what we perceive to be good/bad calls, hack players and whatnot without having to go into a rival team's forum and potentially be marked as a troll.

And yeah, the rivalry forum is a place to air the "dirty laundry" so to speak, with fewer/looser rules, etc. If someone has a problem with another poster, can we not air it here, if at all possible? As already said, take it up with the mod, then super mod, etc.

Use the ignore lists, too. They're wonderful things.

One thing I have noticed is that if a thread has been inactive for a day or more (I'm not exactly sure of the time frame, might be 2 days or more), but then there is a recent post, when clicking on the thread, it takes me to the first page, not the first new post as it does for active threads.

This came up on another thread. I'll repost it here and call @SoccerPrime.

Can we come up with a more user-friendly board structure for the USL and NASL forums?

Currently on the USL boards we have a whole bunch of forum links on the top (and then an unreal number of stickies), which pushes the current discussion so far down the page you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to see what people are actually discussing today. The NASL boards are the same way.

Contrast that with the arrangement of the MLS boards or (for example) the Germany boards. Both of those avoid the big list of teams on the top level by putting them behind an intermediary clubs forum. I find that much easier to navigate.

Speaking of that, I've oft-wondered why the "MLS: Clubs" forum has a place for threads at the very bottom. It seems quite redundant to have MLS: General and this:

I think that's just an oversight. I'm pretty sure posting can be turned off for that level. It just wasn't.

I do agree those threads should be moved to the proper place and posting should be turned off there.

I have a suggestion for the rep system and the notification system.

On Facebook if, say, 20 people like your status, you will only receive one notification which says "La Trucha and 19 others like your status". I think this is better than getting 20 notifications for each person who likes your status, which is the way BigSoccer currently has it. I can imagine the current system would be hell for those members who often get over 20 reps for their clever and/or hilarious posts.

Also, the notification system itself is outdated. On Facebook and other forums, if you receive a notification, the tab will have a (1) to indicate you have a notification. This is beneficial if you are on another site and you have BigSoccer on in another tab.

    Thoughts?
