Omar Gonzalez is better than 99.99% of center backs in the world.

He's also not good enough for the USMNT, or much more than a Mexican champion or a middling team in Europe.

That's really quite ok. No one should take that personally, no matter how much one specific action hurt on an individual level.

Sure, that they didn't care doesn't mean that you did. You just have a much better bench with Pachuca.

Actually I think both teams cared somewhat. Al Jazira are just scrubs. Every team outside of PAC, RM, and Gremio looked terrible.

Gonzo is like Brooks: a great game here, a stinker there. Typical of big guys with limited agility, it depends on the forwards they're facing.

Gooch had better positioning. Brooks ceiling is higher though, he won't be hitting the peak years for a CB until 2020 or so.

Onyewu had his share of howlers from time to time back in his Belgian days. I guess it’s just typical of these big bulky defenders.

Those little dribbling demons are a pain for the big guys.

Dude was a total scrub on that goal. 100% on him. I swear I’m not just attacking him. The guy is terrible.

Gonzalez makes a silly turnover that leads to Pumas' first goal. Dude is so lucky Herrera sucks and we don't really have a good RCB in the youth ranks.

Yep, Gonzo is a tronco, we've always known that. But in MLS it's ok, we don't have that many dribbling demons around. He's a terrible fit in MX though, sort of like your Chicharo in West Ham, a team that needs its forwards to be much more than poachers.

He's also slow as hell, so I don't see how he was a fit in MLS even, other than being able to hang in a lesser league. He doesn't fit Alonso's system at all. The team sometimes finds itself way too far up the field, with Murillo and Omar sometimes being almost at the wings. He doesn't have the speed or stamina to keep up with that system. Even Murillo who is a natural athlete sometimes looks terrible coming back to defend. If we had a fast CDM it would help but Hernandez is as slow as Omar.

I feel that the team is in a transitional period, players that once were pillars aren't cutting it anymore.

Not sure if injured but he's not on the squad for tomorrow. Herrera will probably be starter and Alexis Peña on bench.

I'm sure he's earning far more than what Dallas would want to pay him

FCD had moved up to first in the allocation order for a reason............................
There have long been rumors behind the scenes about FCD trying to grab Omar.

I think there's a little bit of a misconception amongst fans about FCD spending.
Last year they had basically the same spending in terms of guaranteed compensation as a team like SKC.

Three years ago.............................yes they wouldn't have paid what it would have taken to get him.

Omar's contract expires in June, so we'll see.
