It really is. That's unfortunate, because here isn't another news service that reliably reports on state HS rankings and region/area battles. My HS is closing after this year, hoping to repeat as state champs. Played its final reg season rivalry game against a crosstown (Robert E.) Lee HS. Won 63-61, looking to add one last Blue Map before it all comes crashing down. I'm in that photo, but you can't see me...
'Cause he was in Baton Rouge. If it'd been Tuscaloosa anywhere in Alabama but Auburn, he'd have said "Roll Tide", "War Eagle" if he was IN Auburn. Now, outside the SEC... it's "BJ!" if he was at Bob Jones, "Knowledge Aflame!" if Liberty, "I already got 8 Million!" if Oral Roberts... you get the idea. He's playing to the crowd at the venue.
I'd heard about the Peyton sexual assault stores years ago, but not what I'm hearing now. The blameshifting allegations are the most serious thing I've ever heard associated with SEC football, and I've been following cfb for almost 40 years. The kid the Mannings and the two Vol staffers wanted to blame? Somebody went to his folks house and sat at his mothers kitchen table and said, "We'd like your son to come play SEC football at the University of Tennessee, and I'll care for hi like he was my own"...
Dameyune Craig officially named new WR coach for LSU, by Les Miles. Taking over for Tony Ball who came from UGA. This comes a day after Jabbar Juluke was officially hired as the new RB coach after, Frank Wilson accepted the UTSA HC gig.
@Catracho_Azul Hey, what's going on down there with the money? I keep hearing different stuff about the state cutting back and/or not having funds, and that Southern and Gram are taking the brunt of the damage. What's the media there saying about this?
In other, non-football-related news, Johnson High won its last game ever, defeating some private school ( #blackplayerswhitecheerleaderswhitestudentsection #youalreadyknow) by 21 to win the 5A state title.
Terrence Cody, you idiot. Even Michael Vick didn't let dogs starve, AFAIK. I wonder sometimes what the hell is up with these players who can somehow keep it all together while they're at Bama or wherever, but as soon as they reach the NFL (and are playing as grown men for money), they lose it.
It seems the state of Georgia is doing what it can to help UGA win a national title... Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed into law on Monday a bill allowing athletic departments of public schools in the state, including the University of Georgia, up to 90 business days to respond to open records requests. People are starting to call it 'Kirby's Law'.
ROFL @ the comments section... one poster called "Fascist Law can't Fix Bulldog Blues" said: "This is the state of georgia vocally admitting that it has literally nothing going on besides a football program that hasn't won a natty since the 80s.", and "Kriby's [sic] Law gives the football team North Korean levels of authority over a once-free press and y'all are still gonna finish third in the East." Probably a bitter Tech grad...
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...athletic-director-southern-california-trojans In other news, former PITTSBURGH STEELER (and Esteemed Holder of The First Four Rings) Lynn Swann has been hired as USC's new AD.
http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_...emy-tunsil-text-messages-checking-alterations At some point, people were gonna start asking themselves why top players would choose Ole Miss (Eli aside, his dad went there) in the first place, given how difficult it is to try to restore a program to greatness after half a century. Now we're beginning to find out.
Zach Mettenberger's career as a starter may have come to an end. Beat out at Georgia, beat down by various West teams, now beating the bushes looking for a backup QB gig. Somebody wants him, just don't yet know who's willing to take the chance.
I actually figure him to be a decent #2 at some point, so my assessment is kinder than yours. I was saying he's not starter material, or hasn't proven himself to be.
I absolutely agree. He has all the physical measurables that every coach would love to have in their QB, the bangs, the lack of color on his skin. Oh and his arm is pretty cool too.
Well, the measurables you're talking about really apply only in the SEC and specifically at Bama, but he does have an arm.
http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2016/05/saban_to_cryogenically_freeze.html Lol It might keep them out of trouble...
Briles is out at Baylor. This is what happens when small-time programs try to step up before they can naturally attract the best talent (see also: Miss, Ole). Sadly, Brenda Starr is still employed there.
No, I meant they have to take the total person they can get and sometimes that means they get top-notch athletes who make poor (and criminal) personal decisions more often than they should. Ole Miss stands out in that regard, too. They suck for 40 years and suddenly end up with Treadwell, two Nkemdiches, Tunsil and IIRC some other potential top draft picks? Why'd these kids choose Ole Miss when they could have been at a relevant SEC program- or raised their GPA and board scores and gone Big XII/Pac-12? Because they got paid more at Ole Miss.
