Fair enough. Considering this question is about who the best striker is right now. We will see what kind of impact he makes in the next couple of weeks.
surely not 21 goals in 21 games, like a certain Cameroon man. (btw I like Torres, but samuel is doing really well, better than any other striker right now, great fifteen mins + against portsmouth by Torres the other day though)
He's very fast and has some tricks but he is also misses far too many good chances to be the best in the world. I would score a lot too with Messi, Xavi, D.Alves, Henry & Iniesta feeding me. Mainly Messi.
This argument is irrelevant as there's no way to know how well any of those players would have played this season without any one of the others. Not that playing with what is virtually a La Liga best XI week in and week out does not impact a striker's scoring record, but logically speaking Eto'o deserves credit for each and every goal, especially when he's got more than anyone else in his league.
Eto'o: 21 goals in 21 matches (1.000) . . . Ibrahimovic: 14 goals in 22 matches (.636) Pato: 10 goals in 21 matches (.476)
Goals have to count for something considering this thread is about players who's primary role is to score
There is a way. They would play the same seriously. Eto'o has not been holding up the ball brilliantly, giving great flicks constantly or having fantastic link-up play generally. I would have scored a lot too. He misses way to much to be in the top 5 imo of forwards / strikers. He's without doubt class. World class? I don't think so. He's a striker and has no excuse not to be as clinical as the best in the game are football wise better clearly not to be better than forwards like Pato, Del Piero or the mighty Ibrahimovic. He's not close to them on their way and he is not near as clinical as Villa & Gilardino have been this season for instance.
But you also cant let his superior teammates influence his rating. If a player gets 10 chances and scores 5 goals, while another one gets 5 chances scoring 4 goals, which would you rather take? Etoo is getting the best opportunities at goal, and though he is doing a good job putting many of them away, i still think ibra has been the better overall striker.
am i the only one that thinks Pato is overrated? holy sh.it he's an opportunist in terms of scoring goals. maybe in the next 5 years ill start to consider him on the list. heres mine: 1. Ibraimovich 2. Eto'o 3. Villa 4. Torres 5. Berbatov
Are you serious? If you're not a native English speaker, I apologize, but look up the definition of opportunism and then tell me it's not THE most important mental attribute that a goalscorer can have.
of course it is, ALL strikers are oppotunistic , if we just use this logic why then are Di Vaio whos has been the most opportunistic striker on Serie-A , considering he must score with the very few chances he has on not a "modest" team with modest players like Bologna. and whose leading the scoreboard in goals on Serie- A or maybe Gilardino, whos always at the right time on the right place to score? what makes them stand out are their ablilities to still score those goals with pressure on them and their speed/precision are also important factors. And i don't see that on Pato. He's got a lot more improvement to do. I just can't see him being above the likes of Berbatov, Torres, Eto'o etc
