I'm not good at Peruvian history but I'll give it a try.

Old History: I would say chumpitaz. His name just sticks out more to me than sotil in Peruvian soccer history.

Recent Time: I am probably leaning towards Pizarro. The guy is racking up on goals being recognized worldwide.

true but cubillas scored some really important goals plus he wasn't a pure striker but more of a playmaker.

he's still nr 1 for me

    Umm...Chumpitaz was a defender, not a striker.

If we define striker as a pure center forward it'd have to be Lolo Fernandez with Perico Leon behind him.

Cubillas was a #10, Sotil a support forward and Chumpitaz a central defender so I wouldn't consider them.

Nene out as he is a midfielder. Lolo probably the best strike rate wise but I think Sotil (he was a striker right?) had the best skills. El Gran Perico Leon would probably come to mind as a third place

Then of course if we factor in Club level performance of play I might make Pizarro third in lieu of Perico Leon

the peru.com list is horribly outdated, solano is 3rd all time scorer

go to this one its got the update numbers
    http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/peru-recintlp.html

top 3 strikers(aka center foward) i dont include cubillas as an out and out striker he did play in the midfield in 78

    1-lolo fernandez
    2-valeriano lopez
3-perico leon/hugo sotil(if you include sotil as a striker that is)

I can't believe none of u guys have said this, but what about Waldir Saenz :D ROFL
Ok being serious I think Sotil was the best in history and Pizarro is the one from now, he might even surpass him if he scores more goals for the NT which what most ppl will remember him for.

I thought so. Good to see Nobby up there as 3rd all-time. Bad at the same time since that shows we lack pure goalscoring strikers.

yeah, I've heard from the family that lolo used to break the goal's net. My dad says he was an amazing striker.

What about Valeriano? People said he had a chimpun in his head. :D He had an amazing header.

    they legend of valeriano goes

"Se señala en el anecdotario que, cuando jugó en Colombia, el mismo presidente del Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabeu viajó para lograr fichar al Tanque de Casma, quien, sin embargo, desechó la oferta debido a que no deseaba estar tan lejos de su familia. Se comenta que Bernabeu, para no haber hecho el viaje en vano, recaló en Argentina de donde se llevó contratado a Alfredo Di Stefano."
    http://www.biografias.com/biografia_valeriano_lopez.htm

dont know if its true, but if it was, damm valeriano would have been kicking himself afterwards

reading that list seems that lolo is the player with the most apperances in first place with 7 valeriano follows him with 4

garcia here are the final 2 years top scorers

2003 Luis BONNET [Argentina] Sporting Cristal 20
2004 Gabriel GARCIA [Uruguay] Melgar FBC 35

meaning that the last peruvian born player to lead the goalscoring was loverita ramirez

No way el Cholo can be considered a striker. He was a support forward.

My uncle always tells how he single-handedly made Manuel Mellan the top goal scorer in 1971 even though Mellan sucked major ass. He supposedly did the same when Muni was in the 2nd division.
