What formations did he play vs Belgium and Poland?

    4-4-1-1? 4-4-2?

IMO, the most important players for Mexico going into the 2018 WC:

    Tecatito
    Lozano
    Guardado
    Herrera

3 of the 4 are having good seasons with their clubs. Tecatito has been struggling, but it's understandable since he's been going through a lot off the field. He tends to show up for the NT when they need it most though. If these 4 stay healthy and in form , I believe they could carry Mexico to el quinto partido.

Dark Horse: Carlos Vela. Could be a huge plus if he shows up to play for the WC. One of Mexico's best playmakers when he's on.

I'd like to see Vela in a false 9 with Lozano and Tecatito on the wings. Could be nasty.

Cheech and Jimenez on the bench.

A lot of players over 30, but most of them will be in their early 30's in 2022. If our main starting lineup were all around 30, like Panama right now, we'd be in big trouble next cycle, but we will have that transition period this next cycle where if any young player steps up, he'll be able to take the starting spot. Sort of like in this cycle, were Salcedo, Araujo, Tecatito, Lozano emerged and are pretty much starters now.

Our only concern could be GK since we really don't have a young player starting or playing in Liga MX, but then again we have Gonzalez who although is 27 will be 31 by 2022 and has good characteristics. Don't understand why Osorio doesn't call him. I see him as a better GK than Cota and Monterrey was the best team this last tournament.

I don't know who will start, but I think these players will go, mostly ranked by how sure I am they will be there. I'll include numbers too for extra credit

    1. Memo Ochoa (13)
    2. Hirving Lozano (8)
    3. Andres Guardado (18)
    4. Chicharito (14)
    5. Hector Herrera (16)
    6. Carlos Vela (11)
    7. Hector Moreno (15)
    8. Jona Dos Santos (6)
    9. Miguel Layun (7)
    10. Tecatito (17) (el 10 si de milagro dejan a Gio)
    11. Raul Jimenez (9)
    12. Diego Reyes (5)
    13. Carlos Salcedo (3)
    14. Gio Dos Santos (10)
    15. Nestor Araujo (2)
    16. Gallardo (19)
    17. Aquino (20)
    18. Alanis (22) (el 4 si no va Rafa)
    19. Pizarro (21)
    20. Cesar Montes (23)
    21. Rafa Marquez (4) si arregla su situacion
I only put 21 since the other 2 are Corona (1) and Cota (12).

    On the Bubble:

    E. Alvarez
    JoGo
    Fabian
    Orbelin
    Damm
    Burrito
    Molina
    Elias Hdz.
    H. Martin

Surprise me with names I missed that could potentially bump one of these names.

That list is pretty spot on @PARS. Only other name I think that has consideration is Oribe Peralta. He has always been the main backup to Chicharito and Jimenez.

From the list I would cut Gio and Alanis. With Rafa and Reyes there is no need for a 5th CB. Also Salcedo could play CB and slide Layun to RB and Gallardo to LB if need be so Alanis is really extra. For those same reasons if Montes also has no shot at playing I would rather he free up his spot as well.

I would pick 1 of E. Alvarez or Burrito, whomever can lock up that CDM spot. The last two spots are up for grabs. If Fabian can show he has recovered and is playing at a high level he should definitely be considered. J. Gonzales may also be able to beat him out for a spot if he performs well in the upcoming friendlies. IMO the last two spots would be a combinations of the following:

    Fabian
    J. Gonzales
    O. Peralta
    J. Damm
    Pizarro (because I don't think he's a lock yet.)

    17. Nestor Araujo
    18. Gallardo
    19. Aquino
    20. E. Alvarez (we need another CB/DM)
    21. Fabian (once he starts getting solid minutes he's a lock)
    22. J. Damm (Osorio loves him)
    23. JoGo (will bump orbelin and pizarro for a spot)
On the outside looking in: Orbelin, Pizarro, O. Peralta

I don't believe we'll see Marquez, getting off that list takes years in some cases.

I know anything can happen but for what it’s worth here’s my 2026 lineup. (Age)

    ——————Abraham Romero(27)—————
    ————Alvarez(28)———Montes(28)
    Sanchez(28)—————————Mayorga(28)
    —————————JoGo(26)
    —————Orbelin(29)——Gutiérrez(30)
    Lainez(25)——————————Lozano(30)
    ————————-Maleck(26)

Me thinks Lozano will lead us to glory at “home” in 2026.

    1. Your list is spot on, JCO will take this squad. Great observation with your inclusion of these 3 players: Alvarez, J. Gonzalez and Damm, at the expense of Peralta, and others.

    2. The rest of the squad are locked, whether they are getting club minutes or not.

    3. In a recent interview Osorio highlighted these Liga MX players have the capacity to play in EU: Araujo, Gallardo, Alvarez, Damm.

    4. Ayala, Montes, Pizarro, Orbelin, Molina, Elias--Osorio doesn't rate them that much, otherwise they would have made it to Confederations (Molina was only chosen after Tecatito backed out). J. Gonzalez le lleno el ojo.

Edson is on shaky ground right now due to his lack of PT. Fabian is on notice too but I believe we’ll end up seeing him in the WC.

Miguel Layun is a big liability on defense and hasn't brought much to the offensive attack. I honestly hope he's not a starter in the WC.

Stopped reading when you said you'd cut Gio.

This whole thread is useless as 1) JC Osorio is the coach and 2) Gio is his preferred forward next to [Insert 2nd FW here].

Any make-believe lineups you guys want to throw out absolutely require GdS in the starting eleven.

    Thank you.

Don’t do that man. In 2010 I joked around (don’t want to find the quote but if someone does more power to you) and said before the Argie game “hey Aguirre may start Cuah and Bofo jajajaja” and then he did. So be careful with that stuff, if you say it out loud it may happen.
