Following the FFA cup for a few years and the NPL there are a few strong non-league teams. Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club have been successful in the cup several times. Heidelberg United Football Club has been consistent also, Blacktown City also although less so. Can't imagine the A-League allowing another Melbourne based club into the A-league even if Bentleigh Greens or Heidelberg got a better stadium but I like the idea of a stronger non-league in Australia. Any other strong clubs around the country?
Check out the guys at www.tporankings.com they rank the top 370 or so teams around Australia, through NPL, A-League, Y-League, FFA Cup and NPL championships. As well as some lower leagues. They have Bentleigh, APIA and Heidelberg ranked higher than the Mariners. Avondale, Campbelltown City, Sydney Olympic, Adelaide City, Lions FC, MetroStars and Manly Utd make up the rest of their Top 20 with the A-League teams.
