Yes that was Marquez completely dominating Ronaldo last night and showing why soon he will be on a huge european side and why he is the best defender in the world.

Walter Samuel is not flashy but he is as solid as it gets. He plays physical without taking cheap shots. And he can even score at key times. Like when he scored the goal that eliminated Cruz Azul and advanced Boca Juniors to the finals of the Copa Libertadores.

And he is Argentine. So I have to pick him for best defender in the world.

If you speak only of defend. Nesta

If you speak about defend and attack. Roberto Carlos.

If you speak about the future best defender. Chivu, Medzelder and Marquez.

Do you judge everyone on just one game? (A game where he only played about 60 minutes yet helped hold Brazil scoreless)

Good question Tecos, but I'd want to ask you, dont you think Rafa's temper tend to betray him?

    Left Back:
    1. Roberto Carlos(You can make a case that he is the best attacking left back of all time)
    2. Kahka Kaladze(I might be a bit biased but he has been awesome this year)

    Right Back:
    1. Carles Puyol(Nothing gets by him, it's a shame he's the only defender on Barca's roster)
    2. Javier Zanetti(He's the only Inter player that I root for, I wish he wore the red 'n black)

    Center Back:
    1. Alessandro Nesta(World class)
    2. Paolo Maldini(He may not have the speed he used to but he makes up for it with his brain)
    3. Lilian Thuram(Another player I wish was a rossoneri)
    4. Christian Chivu(He could be one of the all-time greats, but he's not there yet)

I like Kaladze, too. He's a pretty solid defender, even if he does play for Milan.
