Nice gesture from Ronaldo as Bernardo got injured but the MOTM was Quaresma, no doubt in my mind.
Segundo Jogo: Taça das Confederações, 21 de Junho 2017 Otkrytie Arena - Rússia Rússia 0 Portugal 1 (Ronaldo 8') Bernardo starts, really starts, after a dozen games for Portugal, Bernardo is left to do what he is best at and this game will go down as the game he solidified his spot in the squad and given a few more of these performances a starting 11 position secured. Portugal beat Russia away a year after losing there by the same score line in a friendly. http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/12617/contextid/172
Terceiro Jogo: Taça das Confederações, 24 de Junho 2017 Krestovsky Stadium - Rússia Nova Zelândia 0 Portugal 4 (Ronaldo [P] 34', Bernardo 37', André Silva 80', Nani 91') Bernardo starts but does not finish after he scores his second goal for Portugal (his first one came of a huge Frango), he land awfully and is subbed at the break in what looks like mostly a precautionary action. Ronaldo gets his second of the tournament, André Silva finally is not undone by a great save, Nani comes on and gets a injury time gold...Quaresma was MOTM this should not even be up for discussion, even though they gave it to Ronaldo again (if I remember correctly), one day he is going to get MOTM without playing, another record broken. http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/12657/contextid/172
Meia-Final: Taça das Confederações, 28 de Junho 2017 Kazan Arena - Rússia Portugal 0 [Penáltis 0] Chile 0 [Penáltis 3] Bernardo started and was replaced by Quaresma at 83'. Good game again from Bernardo although less so in the second half where the game became more tactical and there were not that many highlights. Questions marks over the replacement of both André Silva and Bernardo but André missed a great opportunity to go 1-0 and did not really improve much while Bernardo who was probably not 100% and after doing plenty of defensive work was probably a bit tired, though I would of kept Bernardo on. Gomes has improved in that he does not give possession away recently but he had 4 good opportunities just outside the box and did horribly with all four (Pizzi/Bernardo/Moutinho would have done vastly better in those situations). All 3 of our replacements for penalties/extra time missed, Quaresma, Moutinho then Nani. After 90 minutes the teams were about equal but like against Spain in 2012 all the pressing in the first 90 had spent most of Portugal's players. Chile is not Spain 2012 and I thought Santos gave Chile maybe a bit too much respect. In evidence of this look at the second half when we stopped pressing no big holes appeared in our defense but the high work rate especially in the first half conditioned our extra time play in which Chile should of had a penalty via Fonte and hit the frame twice within one play. Mexico on Sunday for 3rd place. http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/12704/contextid/172
League: Game 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 0 Manchester City 2 (Agüero 70', Dunk [OG] 75') Only watched the last five minutes when Bernardo played. When Bernardo was at Monaco I could get behind the team, as their where so really good youngsters, Jardim was there and they had quite a few Portuguese players. With Manchester City I am only concerned about Bernardo.
League: Game 2 Manchester City 1 (Sterling 82') Everton 1 (Rooney 35') Bernardo came on with about 20 minutes to go missed a volleyed opportunity early on. After that had some good touches and almost got around the defense on one occasion. Lastly he almost found Silva with a little chip towards the end. Bernardo and Silva have a good understanding already as they are both intelligent players and should start together as they are going to today against Bournemouth.
League: Game 3 AFC Bournemouth 1 (Daniels 13') Manchester City 2 (Jesus 21', Sterling 97') Bernardo started his first game and was his normal good self with some good passes, possession, winning back the ball a few times. The only bad point in the first half was a very good opportunity just outside the box with options on both sides, Bernardo hits a tame shot right down the middle. After the break as Bournemouth pressurized Bernardo, got caught a few times, was not passing the ball accurately...and was replaced by Agüero. Having watched Bernardo for a while, I think 2 things are not going to change (or will be very hard to), one, he does not have an abundance of stamina very much like his hero Rui Costa, second, his shot is quite weak.
Mundial 2018 Estádio do Bessa XXI, 31 de Agosto 2017 Portugal 5 (Ronaldo 3', Ronaldo [P] 29', William 58', Ronaldo 64', Nelo 84') Ilhas Faroé 1 (Baldvinsson 38') Ronaldo hatrick, but it was really William's goal that made the game easy (after a poor first half, also got an assist for Ronaldo's third) from a excellent Ronaldo cross. Bernardo had an assist for Ronaldo's first which was of note. Bernardo also had a chance after Baldvinsson goal after good play but the shot was rather weak and badly placed. André Silva had a horrible game, easily his worst and Cédric was below bar. Bernardo also had a nice run with a pass in the second half but was rather average between a good start and the late flash of quality. http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/13154/contextid/172
Mundial 2018 Groupama Aréna, 3 de Setembro 2017 Hungria 0 Portugal 1 (André Silva 48') Coentrão went off injured early on, André Silva should of gone down but stayed up and got nothing out of it, Ronaldo was good and it was his cross that got the crucial goal off André Silva's shoulder/arm (a bit lucky). Quite a boring game, Bernardo played the last 30 minutes and was ok, I guess (from what I remember). http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/13187/contextid/172
League: Game 4 Manchester City 5 ( Agüero 24', Jesus 45' + 6, Jesus 53', Sane 77', Sane 90 + 1) Liverpool 0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQc5DgYXfgc Did not watch, Bernardo did not play and Mané's red card was obviously the turning point. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41133350
CL: Game 1 Feyennoord 0 Manchester City 4 (Stones 2’, Agüero 10’, Jesus 25’, Stones 63’) Did not watch (in Madeira), Bernardo did play, Dutch football!? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41216368
League: Game 5 Watford 0 Manchester City 6 (Agüero 27, Agüero 31’, Jesus 37’ Otamendi 63’, Agüero 81’, Sterling [P] 89’) Did not watch, Bernardo came on for the last 35 minutes, MC spinning teams. Back from holiday (Madeira was great as always, thanks for asking) so will be watching most of the games from now on. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41210048
Bernardo today might be the 1st player in the PL to be banned for diving http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/bernardo-silva-find-out-monday-11390023
Saw the incident, Bernardo could of carried on but then the GK would of got an unfair advantage by delaying Bernardo's run. See far worse given, for me it was a penalty.
