The trust factor is something you seem to be forgetting about. Zapata and Jeison have earned the trust of Pekerman and have been used in many different battles.
It is not odd to forget about this guy when there really is not much he adds to the team.

    Exactly.

Moreover, let's not base our NT roster on such a simple stat as starts vs bench appearances.

If starts were such a big deal, why hasn't been Bernardo been snatched up by even a mid-table club? Why didn't he thrive for Middlesbrough? Why has Sevilla never given him more than a single start over 6 years? Simple: he's not an amazing player.

I've mentioned this in this thread at least 3 or 4 other times over the years: Bernardo thrives in teams with a defensive approach and a zonal setup. He's incredible in the air and very strong in the area. No half-way decent team, no team that tries to put their own stamp on the game would ever field Bernardo in their starting lineups because all of his limitations would be exposed. That's why he routinely features in the center of a 3-man backline, defended by a 5-man midfield.

Colombia does not play that way, nor should it.

Yup also the reason we been shit since the World Cup because Pekerman doesn’t scout and has players he “trust” regardless of form or even if they play for their clubs. This is why we wanted no more colombian coaches.

Not saying Zapata or Abel or Carlos Sanchez are as bad as Vallejo or Bangero but same. Because the coach loves them is the only thing that put them on the NT

Who else? Tho other then Yepes who I didn’t want in Brazil because Pepe will mention. He was my favorite player growing up along with Ivan Cordoba.

I hate Gio Moreno and he is a tall white guy :)

His goal was a little awkward but it still counts.(Was that off his thigh or knee?)
As for him getting a chance, it will be interesting to see if he finally does. It seemed like Pekerman ignored him for the most part and so far so has CQ.

We haven’t given him much love on BS in awhile so his goal, however funky, deserves some props.

Never understood why he hasn’t been on any friendly roster. I guess Oscar was always the go to backup. I wouldn’t mind changing things up this cycle or let Bernie get a nod and play a half in one of the upcoming friendlies.

Personally I think we should be focusing on Cuesta/Lucemi challenging Davinson/Mina but if a spot opens up bring him in and have a look. I think those 4 all have huge ceilings and bringing Cuesta/Lucemi not only helps get the most likely team embedded but getting games with the NT will help them get on the radar for moves to big European clubs and can always help for stuff like work permits in England so it can be really valuable imo and first choice should be for those two up and comers then guys like Bernado and Oscar last. Also I still think Zapata should be an option if we need him, he's still playing regularly and has been a stalwart for us for a long time.

If Oscar Murillo's age isnt an issue to be called up, then neither should Bernardo's. Hard to imagine ignoring a guy who has played most of the past few years in la liga.

Could be a reason the Federation does not like him.
He is the common denominator on losing teams. :ROFLMAO:
