    We will agree to disagree.
To me losing him would be a big deal if maybe he was called up and just not getting playing time. The guy is not even called into Colombia camps.

Just like you said in another thread sometimes there are kids who pop up out of nowhere. And I expect that to happen at the CB position.

Neither was Murillo before the WC which was BS as even then he was much better then Balanta or Carlos Valdez

    So?
Murillo to me has always been a very good prospect going back to the Sub 17 in Nigeria.

This guy Bernardo can be good and can be useful but I won't sweat it if he plays for Spain.
I don't want a kid who wants to play for Spain anyway.

If he even has Spain in his mind than I think he should forget about playing with us .. I think a true Colombian will stay true to his homeland and wouldnt even think about playing for another nt

I have to agree with crazy, Bernardo is a if loss if we can't try to utilize him. Besides the man has Colombia in his mind, but if he's not getting the chance why not play for Spain? It's clearly his desicion.... I'm sure he's still Colombia>Spain in his heart

I Agree .... Colombia is in no way shape or form strong or deep enough to lose strong players even if we have options in those positions, remember copa america and how we got f because we lost a guilar, guarin, aldo and sanchez. this guy is a very good defender. true zapata and murillo are better or at least consider first choice but it doesnt hurt to have an option as solid as this guy

What options. You guys greatly over rate Zapata. Murillo could be world class in the future. Who else?

Meza - only played in Colombia unproven. Going to Mexico
Balanta - hasn't done anything since th wc
    Franco - sub in turkey

    Who else?

I count 2 cbs and don't rate Balanta highly at all nor do I like Zapata back passing ways

Zapata used to be my favorite defender in his u20 days. I though he'll be our future right back. Guess didn't go the way I planned. Point is zapata is solid but he is overrated sadly. Glad he was good against Peru and he's currently our starting cb.

My choices as backups (no particular order)

    Meza
    Mera(Cali)
    Balanta
    Franco
    Jherson Vergara?
Carlos Sanchez as CB? (If medel can do it...)

If Sanchez can play CB, Aguilar can go and fill in, with Cuellar as a partner... I think abel and Andres Perez are exact matches as players and Cuellar play excellent with Andres perez

Vergara is a 2nd div sub and you rate him over a player Spain wants?

I hate this, "we must call or another country will" like the whole Copete and Castillo fiasco. Let them, by all means. Don't want any of these dumbasses playing for the NT if they're threatening to play for another. Each one can be replaced, not like any of them are the next big thing.

Neither Castillo or Bernando threatened anything. Media said they can possibly be called by other countries goal says Osorio can call 5 Mexican league Colombians.

They can say no but bashing someone before they are even called.

I don't see what's there to get offended about. Playing for the national team, specially in the WC, is an honor and a crowning achievement for many. And since footballers have a short career, I completely understand why some players may be impatient for a call, specially if their 2nd country may want them as well. They can't wait forever, and they might miss the boat on the second by waiting for their first option.
So shït of get off the pot.

Agreed. I think its different at the U20 and U17 level where you want to be nurturing the side and understanding how kids will gel together from early on.

Our senior side has so much talent and tbh, I've not seen any contribution from Castillo in his appearances...just seems like a less disciplined Charles Darwin...

who would he replace Zapata or Murillo? I'd like him to replace Zapata but it would be an insanely green CB pair unless we go 3 in the back

He wouldn't replace either of them. Period.

This clumsy kid would get MASSACRED in Santiago.

He's like an awkward Yepes basically. Needs to polish himself a bit but he's a decent cb either way

26... many 32/33 year old CBs .... guy has time to get better. I see him no less clumsy and even less brain farty then Balanta. I still want to see Meza get a shot

Balanta isn't clumsy or prone to the brain fart. He is one of the smoothest CBs I can remember watching and he is just hella aggressive (which is different than suffering from brain gas like Amaranto did).
