Being the fifth league in Europe still says something.

I wouldn't call it crap because there are three clubs dominating the competition. In that case, the French and Spain league are bad too which they aren't.

We are in 5th thanks for Porto, Benfica, and Braga racking up Europa League points. Outside our "big 4" the teams budgets are about 1Mil - 3Mil. Can't compete in Europe with those numbers. The attendance is embarrassing outside the top 5 supported teams.

We lost another great today, Mario Coluna. Captian of the historic Benfica teams of the 60s. May he rest in peace.

Not sure if any of you watch the b team or u-19 but benfica just qualified for the quarter finals of the uefa youth league they beat Áustria de Viena 4-1. Also the b team beat Leixoes on wednesday and are now in 4th place 3 points behind porto b. I can't believe H. Costa didn't get more chances while salvio was out kid def. earned a place even if its on the bench same goes for B. Silva. We have quite a bit of talent coming up R. Pinto and J. Teixeira a couple to mention. I don't mention J. Cancelo cus I think he will be gone in the summer.

Benfica has conceded one goal in their last 14 matches. Impressive.

The limited amount I have seen of Helder Costa is impressive and Calvaleiro has not had a bad game in the A Team, as far as Djuricic is concerned he is totally disheartened at the moment and I wish Andre Gomes would stop ********ing up easy passes as when he does get it right it looks like a mistake. Silvio has a greater chance at WC then Almeida.

Ever since Oblak took over in goal benficas defence has been stellar. A. Gomes has had very little play time so i can understand why he makes the mistakes he does and for Almeida idk what happen to the kid, is he still hurt?

Yes and even after selling Matic, we are still defensively strong. I feared his departure was going to leave a huge void down our middle but to JJs credit (and I hate giving him any credit) the team has adjusted well. I guess that is where depth comes into play too

Yes, our keeper has been very steady and reliable. That gives the defenders confidence too.

Agreed. I can't stand JJ but he has a gift with DMs. Fejsa is playing awesome and Enzo might be the player of the season.

And what a difference having a steady LB

    R. Amorim has played surprisingly well as DM when given the chance. IMO i would give POTS to Rodrigo or Markovic they both have been in amzing for this year. Anyone think benfica will keep Siqueira? They have decent LBs in Gianni and B. Gaspar.

I told you guys we would probably not miss Matic as much as we did not miss Garcia and if we had kept Danilo who plays for Maritimo now we would not have to buy Fejsa. It should be Gomes/Perez/Danilo/Amorim. I see Gomes as an Alonso (RM). Nevermind we got Martins playing for the B side who definitely could be an option considering he was Aimar's 'replacement a little while back, then.
