    Okay, I want to keep up with stuff in Belgium.

    So, as I started the Cercle Juve thread - they have an agreement.

    First and second division chatter is welcome.

    Club Brugge takes on Man United in Champions League playoffs. .. please Club... win!!

    Well Club didn't win.

    Oostende is leading the table.

    Standard was sold in the summer. Seems like that would be good news, new coach, and two losses to start the season have the fans already begging for Eric Gerets.

    Blondo,

    Why do you call Gent "Hein"?

    Hein Vanhaezebrouck is their manager (who has earned plenty of plaudits) ... Gent won the title for the first time in the club's history ... 115 years, about time they won it.

    I knew it was their first, seems to be a very good manager.

    What is up with Standard? Lots of problems it appears.

    They need to rebuild (had to cope with a couple of firesales in previous seasons) ... the new owner, Venanzi, was probably aiming to get into the EL this year ... a bit of cash and an incentive for the players ... they had promising talents in their academy but they're getting raided as soon as they turn 16 - http://sportmagazine.knack.be/sport...nten-verlaten-luik/article-normal-573373.html (short article in Dutch ... google translate should do a decent job).

    PS Gerets probably won't take over as manager ... personal reasons (most likely his health).

    @jonrest

    Big moment in Belgian football, as 25 professional clubs vote in favor of establishing Beneliga = a merger with Dutch Eredivisie.
    @ProLeagueBE
    to play 'active role' in the project. Domestic TV deals end in 2025 in both

    So was listening to the Belgian Football podcast, which I highly recommend.
    This is just the first step, and there is some doubt that this will happen.

    Belgium only gets 8 spots, so the other teams will have questions about the Euros they will lose not playing against the big clubs.
