Keane wasn't the wrong fit. That was one of Rafa's errors. A combination of events then had him do a u-turn ....
I don't see it either. (Just for starters David Silva is bloody irreplaceable - and he's off back to sunny espana next season)

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can’s agent has “blocked all negotiations” regarding the 24-year-old Germany international’s future…
There is a major risk to playing without a contract. Say Emre Can picks up a major injury between now and the end of the season. Will he still have all these teams that want to sign him?
Can's agent has brilliant plan. Block all negotiations. Win MOTM in the next 5 Champions' League matches, including the 87' winner in the Final. Ask for 300K a week.
Yeah, this is almost intentionally devoid of context. Emre is not a great 6... but he's so versatile he plays there pretty well, I don't think anyone argued that. But -- and this is the important part -- he's leaving.
Also, in most games that Henderson played the 6, Can was also in the team in one of the advanced positions. So Can could also be to blame for any results while Henderson was in the team.
And Hendo was kind of injured while the team was getting its shit together? He wasn't available for a lot of the good run of form that started in late December since the defense sort of calmed down. Since we're here, let's look at it: Jordan's been back since late Jan and played in 6 matches. LFC have conceded 5 in those 6 matches (better than their league average) and scored 14. But one of those was the WBA debacle, in which Jordo didn't start and only played 25 mins after all 3 goals were scored by WBA. So... if you only count the 5 games he's started since coming back, they've conceded 2 (both against Spurs, a worldy and a bad penalty) and scored 12! Not bad! Because numbers!
It's also worth noting that usually Can doesn';t have Hendo playing out of best position (somewhat) which tend sto unbalance those sides - whereas Can is equally effective in both spots (as Hendo and alongside Hendo) so the stat to me is somewhat meaning devoid! or agh - I just said something akin to this ....
Whatever, you guys can be satisfied with Hendo and Lallana, but I can't wait for this fella dropping dimes to Salah, Bobby and Firmino. #MyNumber8 pic.twitter.com/9f3G8uBHGh— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) March 8, 2018 PS. Unsubstantiated rumors of Emre buying the house he's been renting
They aren't in competition for the same position... Hendo can shield the back 4, break up play... and get Naby the ball which should be one of the primary jobs of the number 6. And then Naby can do that amazing work that he's being bought to do with those 3 attackers in front of him. Win-win-win!
Didn’t I just post that clip? Lol. I also meant walking through Zenit - as in he just went past them as if they weren’t there. I’m the original Naby Keïta worshiper on this board!
From the Zenit game - he's really brilliant. Knows when to slow it down, and when to attack. Can take on players, win the ball back, make key passes, etc. Just needs to work on his shooting.
Naby certainly looked good. Wouldn't mind trying to nab (get it? ) Forsberg for some additional depth in the front 3. Saw a little bit of the Schalke game this past weekend - Max Meyer was playing in the midfield and doing alright. He's free, can play in the front 3 or the midfield 3 (which I didn't know until watching this weekend), and he's young - we should be offering him a contract to come join our revolution.
The Emre Can case gets even more curious-- Juventus, after spending pretty much the whole season telling all and sundry that it was more or less a done deal, has admitted that it may not be in pole position to sign him after all.
It could be that Can/his agent have been using Juve all along -- they seem to have played this whole thing to perfection to ensure he gets to choose from a number of offers in the summer. I'd prefer him to stay but in any event Can replaced by Keita works for me.
Aye. Although, I regret his [potential] leaving on a free, I'm glad the club stuck to its guns and refused to set a precedent by allowing a "buy out/release clause."
