That's gotta be it. The press release says you can see the match. Funny that they call it a destination beer garden, when it only opens an hour before and shuts down at 70
I had seats in 102, they wouldn't let you up there during the games though as they didn't want the riff raff so close to the suites. Did that change or only post match when the ushers duck out? Now that I think of it, year 1 when I was in 120 they didn't let everyone up on the Capt Morgan deck either. Not sure if it was section specific or STH in general. @Handsome Pete you sit there right? Am I misremembering?
sounds like the open area next to the suites, right behind where the non-18 watch the games sometimes. soumare used to sit there every game
That's it. Level with the suites, on the River End end. Wheeler, Kassel, Jimmy Mac etc were always up there. Scotty's right, there was always security keeping you off that area. Seems the potential revenue from a beer garden can change their mind about that.
As if on queue ... http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/ne...n-and-dogfish-head-bring-beer-garden-ppl-park Doesn't tell us squat.
I think this is the second or third article I've read on this topic that manages to completely leave out where in the stadium the River Deck is located.
they charged $11 for a boddingtons in one of those small union cups. it slapped the buzz right out of me.
It looks like the prices went up across the board this year. Dogfish (all varieties) was running $11 a cup as well. Just a glance across the bench side concessions on Saturday leads me to believe that nothing really changed from last year, with AB InBev all over the place with their various brands. With the Captain Morgan Deck going away, you now need Club access to get something alcoholic other than beer pre-match or during.
Totally agree. IMO, its the only brew worth buying at PPL. Its BS, I can get a 4 pack for cheaper than 1. I understand the mark up and how concession work but the same beer was $9 last season. Guess I'm gonna have to hide drinks for future games. Congratulation PPL, you now get 100% of nothing.
$11 draft is a big ouchies. Did the bomber bottles go up too? I think they were $13 or $14 last year?
I've had (and like) Big Wave Golden Ale by Kona Brewing, but that seemed like an odd one at the stadium. Don't recall seeing it last season.
I always thought those were the best beer/dollar value, especially the Foster's. I usually go for the giant Stella, I'm guessing those are $15-$16 now?
Yeah, I stared at them for a couple of minutes when they asked for $11. For $11 I expect the taps to be cleaned every week
Technically they are owned by craft brew alliance, which is them, widmer Bros., and red hook. Inbev/ab owns a small portion of the company that controls distribution.
Nevertheless, they lose their craft beer cred, just like Goose Island did. When Inbev (Budweiser) owns even a part of you, you are not a craft beer anymore.
Just to be sure, nowhere in PPL Park sells any kind of hard cider correct? My gf is a wuss and "can't" drink beer. Plus looks like I might want to start going to tailgates this year and get my drinking in then...paying $11 a beer just hurts me too much.
The beer at tailgates is totally worth the price of admission. Drink as much as you like for less than the price of one beer inside PPL. If that's not a rousing endorsement, I don't know what is.
I'm sure you can hide a flask in a pair or cargo pants/shorts. I have done that at DC United games in the past. I don't think PPL Park would be much different. Does anyone know if the beer garden was open for the home opener?
