Marcelo Claure does live in Miami, even though I am pretty sure between Ecuador and Sprint, he is probably a International Man of Mystery.
Ecuador? H e is from Bolivia http://www.local10.com/sports/beckham-tries-again-for-soccer-stadium/31323260 Here is a little video, yesterday on channel 10. I feel like Channel 10 Is the most involved with Miami MLS they always have some story about it. Maybe in the future they can get the rights to broadcast all games in South Florida? Anyways I believe those two spots are the in play, which would you guys prefer? The Bertram spot seems the better fit, away from the horror of the Marlins stadium. The Bertram site has transit, even though there is no parking that would just boost the transit system. Maybe they plan to have a parking lot near by...
Oops I meant Bolivia! Forgive me. As for the sites, I think the Airport option is better. Too many politics and its seems too small of a footprint to use the Marlins site. Plus that seems to be connected to UM and increasing the size to 45,000. Although that reports makes it seem as though the Airport site is falling out of favor. ugh.
Shoot I hope not tho, the best option is that boat bertam site, has the airport next to it, transit. If they build in little havanna Marlins site, wouldn't it look crammed, not only that the negative energy around that stadium would not b good for Becks and his team, We need to fight for the right site, Bertram/Miami River site all day, can we call the team Miami River Plate? Joking
Don't be silly, outside of Key Biscayne, Brickell, Coral Gables and the Beaches Miami is a ceasepit of crime and filth.
Check out this expose on the Miami ownership group: http://reprints.longform.org/howler-miami-marcelo-claure Claure, Sprint and SKC have denied a lot of it. Southern Legion also refutes it.
Really? You read it and your conclusion is its not happening? If true, my conclusion is how did MLS let this go on for so long? I really like the article, sorta like how I like to watch crime dramas. Very intriguing and interesting, but a lot of the conclusions are shody and don't quite add up. The fact that Sporting KC who is probably perceived as the anti-Miami ownership group, had such a aggressive rebuttal seems to also fuel the discrepancy.
Isn't SKC's reaction largely a result of the quote from Heinman that is.. Shall we say.. Rather offensive to the players (and fans).
Obviously things could have changed since the article was written, but if it is true that Claure has never met with the mayor of Miami and Beckham/Fuller only once and even that meeting was a result of the person they were actually there to meet with brought the mayor in? Yeah, that's not a good sign.. Of course, they could have people that are handling everything, but you have to at least show up to glad hand once in awhile..
really really long article from Howler, sounds like that they didn't win any friends at MLS or in KC either. http://reprints.longform.org/howler-miami-marcelo-claure Claure, the only Miami resident in the ownership group, doesn’t live here anymore. Beckham remains in London. Fuller is in Los Angeles. For months now, it seems, Beckham has only answered questions about the team when he’s making appearances in support of his Haig Club whiskey and other interests. Everyone’s off doing their thing. Which leaves the Southern Legion to conduct its own field exercises down in South Florida.
He owns a home here still, only reason he ivee there is strictly for work, but im sure he comes home more often than u think
MOD NOTE: I am going to start deleting threads that are simply link dumping. If you want to make a comment and link something, great. But links without comment will be deleated in the future. Lucho, this is addressed towards everyone, not just you.
Is it ok to ask if there any movement or word on when exactly this Beckham Miami team will start playing? I really haven't heard or read anything anywhere and I can't seem to find anything online.
No one knows that's why you can't find any info. The Sun Sentinel claims Becks said he had 2 months (in May) but besides that there are no known deadlines and no one has set any drop down dates.
I thought I read Garber did in fact give Beckham a deadline or rather that he said "it can't go one forever". Is that he can't legally put a timeline on it?
It's money. Beckham got the right to own a team (anywhere except in New York and Los Angeles) as an inducement in his original contract with MLS and his right to buy a team has been extended at least once. If Garber gives Beckham a firm deadline before the timeline in the contract runs out, he will be opening up MLS for a massive lawsuit.
Therefore, basically there is no clue of if or when Beckham's team will begin playing, is this correct?
