Check out Patrick Cutrone! In his first year as a professional , he scored 18 goals in all competitions at 20 years of age! This is what Italy needs more of. Where he came from, I'm sure there are others. Cutrone ala, esperimento riuscito: gol e verticalizzazioni per il Milan Cutrone: “Personalmente è stata una stagione indimenticabile” Cutrone in doppia cifra in campionato, è il secondo Under 20 in Europa
Lost 3:2 in the end. Portugal was a class above Italy in the first half but several Portugal substitutions at HT made the second half more even. Overall, not particularly encouraging given the hosting of the championship in a year's time.
Lost 1:2 to England in a friendly in Ferrara. Outclassed for parts of the game against a team which overall played better and have better individuals in most positions.
You know it just occurred to me that Italy's only Under 20 WC appearance was when they won 3rd place last years tournament. How interesting...
Yeah but not many more games. What do we have 1 more in Nov, 2 in March and maybe a couple before the tournament begins? lol
This under 21 team is one of the poorest I can remember. However, with the home advantage a place in the semi-finals - and qualification for the Olympics - is a realistic target. Anything else is a bonus.
The second under 21 friendly ended in a 1:2 defeat to Germany in Reggio Emilia. After taking the lead - Paragini scored after a brilliant move - Germany had the better of the rest of the game and deserved to win. Meanwhile, the under 19 team lost its friendly 2:4 against Slovakia.
Groups for the Under 21's Group A: Italy, Spain, Poland, Belgium Group B: Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Austria Group C: England, France, Romania, Croatia
2021 group 1: Italy Sweden Iceland Ireland Republic Armenia Luxembourg We will probably have a new coach for this edition of the competition.
Things looking up on the talent front at last, probably because - unlike for most of the past decade - these players have had the opportunity to play in Serie A.
All the Italian player needs is a chance to play and develop with bigger teams. As soon as that happens, I can't imagine how Italy will be held back....
I believe he has only played in INTL friendlies... but for me i'd rather give the Cutrone given a full look
Cutrone for sure but Italy needs depth. Especially when you consider there are only 5 Italian players on average on top clubs.
