    amelia (if buffon still out)

    zambrotta--canna--chiellini--grosso

    pirlo--de rossi

    brighi--aquilani

    rossi--gila

that's what I'd do, but i bet he will play a 5-man midfield

I have a bad feeling about this one, Italy better start a younger defensive line then Cannavaro and Zambrotta at the back, and please God, let Buffon be back.

I can see Lippi giving a guy like Rossi a start and maybe someone like Foggia a call up. Cmon since when does Italy treat friendlies serious. do not forget they play them again in June. Over in South Africa.

We're gonna need one quick starting 11 in order to contain the Brazilians, particularly on our backline. Cannavaro and Chiellini are guarantees to start in my opinion. The other 2 spots are still up in the air though...

I don't think Italy can beat Brazil right now, there clearly not the same team in 2006, when they could have probley beaten anyone.

Similarly, you can also say that Brazil is not the team it once was. Their current team is, for the most part, far inferior to any other Brazil team I can recollect.

they have the depth and age on there side, though Italy has better Goalies and Central Defenders and there is a arguement for forwards but in the midfield and left/right back position Brazil is superior.

Re: AZZURRI vs brazil Feb 10 Friendly

I think the only portion of the field they are superior is in the midfield. Defense is somewhat equal, but Buffon def gives us the edge. And our forwards have been performing light years above theirs.

    See: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=773599&page=33

Though this was as of mid-December, the statistics have been largely unchanged. Our forwards have superior goal-to-minute ratios than that of the Brazilian forwards.

Anyway, I know what you're saying - it will be a tough match because Brazil are, well, a very good team. I'm just saying we are as well. It is pretty evenly-matched though. Regardless, this is a friendly and I want to see Lippi do some experimentation with new faces and possibly new formations. I'm more concerned with progression as a team than the result to be honest (though I surely wouldn't want a loss).

I'd say one person out of 12 having a large change of pace is pretty "largely unchanged" so yes.
