Whether people like him or not and I have been a critic in the past I think it is best to support him. After all he is the leading goal scorer this year and it is not so far fetched that he will keep on scoring in the world cup. And like you said he is a little hustler who will play for the team unlike some players who dont track back and help the defense.

Now all we need is Maldini to tell Cannavaro to stay home and watch the kids.

I will address the part of your statement I have bolded,
since it factually incorrect as of 3/24/10.

    Facts:
Rossi has been integral part of Villarreal revival that started when he returned to starting lineup (after his long layoff) on 3/24/10 under the new mgr.

Rossi's form this season has not been abysmal but it is certainly hasn't been great either.

Apparently Aquilani played a good game today. Assuming he's fit, will he come to SA?

You can take all the cheap shots @ me
    but
the facts remains your statement about Rossi form was incorrect

-> FACT: Rossi form prior to his departure for Family reasons
    was not Abysmal
nor he is in Abysmal form

-> I been around here long enough
and I will defend any player or a poster
    whose facts are incorrectly stated.

Furthermore, this is still a fact, whether you like it or not.

Anyway, that's all have to say to you....

Kqql, I know you follow Rossi much more than the others on here so your insight on the matter warrants special consideration. But, just to be clear, someone categorizing a player's form, whether abysmal, magnificant, average, etc., is just an opinion, not fact, and therefore, cannot be "correct" or "incorrect."

I've seen some Villarreal games this season. Rossi has been exceptional since he returned to the team following his father's death. Though, I must say, earlier on in this season, he wasn't doing anything special. Objectively, his stats can tell us that: 8 goals, 3 assists in 30 games. Yes, some of those 30 games were not full 90s or games where he did not start, but either way, that is nothing to brag about. Like I said, his form has been decent/good, but not great or abysmal.

Hi Davey, how goes it? I think Rossi had to have his Dad's illness prior to passing weigh very heavy on him as a human, not just a player.

I also think as KQQL pointed out, since Rossi's return post his father's passing he has been playing at a high level and for whatever it's worth I think most on this board are Beppe Rossi fans for various reasons and hope to see him play his great potential in the future.

I want Rossi on the WC squad... The only player I would be okay with bumping him off the vice 2nd striker spot is Miccoli, because Miccoli has been nothing short of fantastic this season and his inclusion into the WC squad would improve Italia's chances in the tournament and quite frankly he is more deserving of the spot- he paid his dues, improved every year and is the captain of a young Palermo team and their leader.

Plus tactically Miccoli can potentially compliment Di Natale on the pitch in more of a trequisita role whereby I am not sure Rossi is there yet.

Hey buddy. I think you may have misread my post. I am not against Rossi at all. I, like you, am also a fan of his and I would like to see him come to the world cup this summer (assuming of course that the better second strikers, Miccoli, Cassano, etc., won't be going). Of course, his fathers illness' must have had an effect on Rossi prior to his recent rise in form. I agree with you on that. But, I am not arguing whether the reason is justified or not, I'm just saying that his form was not very great beforehand (though, like you mentioned, it was probably for a good reason). Anyway, my 2 cents.

This is amusing really. If you read what Alex said, you know what sort of question he was asked, and no where in his quotes is he saying that Lippi should take Miccoli. He's confirmed that Miccoli has had a good season, he goes on to generally say that those who have had a good season usually arrive in good form for the World Cup. That could mean anyone. He also says that Lippi's task was a hard one.

Del Piero just sat on the fence with that one, but that won't stop reporters or journalists from adding their interpretation now would it? :)

Liga is in full swing this mid- week...

Non erano convocabili i giocatori di Roma e Inter, che mercoledì all'Olimpico di Roma si giocano la finale di Coppa Italia, e lo "spagnolo" Giuseppe Rossi.

True...Sky Sport 24 says Rossi was originally included in the list...that's why there are 29 players and not 30 as originally planned.

This is how I see it............. with forwards (probably 5)

    CF / Prima Punta -> Gila + Pazzini/Borriello/Toni/Totti
    SS / Seconda Punta-> DiNatale + Rossi/Quags/Totti
    +
    Iaquinta

Cassano, Miccoli, Balotelli and Amauri are a no go

There are 9 on that list, plus players playing midweek were not called.

So it could be as high as 12....De Rossi, Toni, Totti...

Two missing from this list that I'd like to see on it are Santon and Rossi. De Rossi is a shoe-in so not point mentioning him.

    This is good news

I know it's different now (because our experienced players are not what they used to) but man, I didn't realize how old our squad was even in 2006... Gilardino, De Rossi and Zaccardo were the only players under 25.

There are Italian players on Inter?

Also on the list of hold overs from 06, Gattuso was not counted, he makes 9 and for some reason I can't remember, was Chiellini on the 06 squad? if he was that makes 10 hold-overs before the possibility of Toni and/or Totti
