Average salary for the Mexican League: any guesses?
    Top salary?

What's the payroll for the top teams? and the bottom teams? and the teams in the middle?

    Thanks.

I haven't seen salary figures in a long time. Many many years ago, FMF tried to impose a salary cap on teams, along with caps on individual players. This also included a limit on the number of "star/elite" salaries a club could pay. The experiment didn't work out, as clubs would find ways around the restrictions by providing housing, cars, etc., or resorting to paying additional money under the table. To add additional wrinkles, salaries were usually described after taxes, and salaries did not include the common bonuses for wins/ties.

Unfortunately, I neither remember when this happened nor what the figures were.

Here's an article from 2004 with some individual salary numbers for some of the top players.
    http://www.terra.com/deportes/articulo/html/fox120234.htm

Here is another one that briefly mentions the old salary cap, and also talks about rookies making about $300 a month.

Teams do not release salary due to security reasons. They only release transfer figures.

I remember hearing this on tv but dont trust me on it. The salary for mexican teams are probably in between 6 to 10 million dollars. To me that seems about right.

This article appeared in yesterday's El Mercurio Newspaper (Chile). I could not believe that de la Torre would discuss player salaries, but some people like to brag so who knows.

No sólo Galindo gana bien: Ramón Morales (capitán) cobra US$ 80 mil, Alberto Medina US$ 65 mil, Luis Michel US$ 60 mil...

Those are some good wages the Guadalajara players make. Aarón Galindo at US$ 150,000 a month. no wonder he came back Mexico, I doubt he was making that kind of money at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Also I read in some article that Gerardo Torrado is making US$ 1.5 million at Cruz Azul. Cruz Azul and Guadalajara are some of the best paying clubs in Mexico so my guess would be that the top individual salaries are probably around US$ 1.5 to 2 million.

That's DP in MLS. There is hope yet that in 5-10 years, some will choose MLS over FMF.

    (4) Vissel Kobe - $7.3 mil
    (5) Kyoto Sanga FC - $7.0 mil
    (6) Oita Trinita - $6.5 mil
    (7) Jubilo Iwata - $6.4 mil
    (8) Kawasaki Frontale - $6.2 mil
    (9) Kashiwa Reysol - $6.1 mil
    (10) Shimizu S-Pulse - $5.9 mil
    (11) Nagoya Grampus - $5.8 mil
    (12) FC Tokyo - $5.6 mil
    (13) Yokohama F Marinos - $5.2 mil
    (14) Omiya Ardija
(14)Sanfrecce Hiroshima - $5.1 mil (currently 6th in the table with 13 games played)

MLS pay more or equal to Mexico .. it would really hurt the mexican league, and Europe will have a run for its money.

I am positive people would prefer to live in NY,Boston,or LA than in Madrid, Milan or Paris.

Look all the SA players go to Mexico for money, who question that is lying to themselves.

PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE IN THE US, give them more than 100,000 a year and you will have a decent league, as I doubt most players in SA make more than $50,000-150,000 a year.

Have you ever been to Paris, Madrid, or Milan?

I have and the only city in the US I would take over them would be New York.

If that is true, which I seriously doubt, that's another reason to dislike Tigres. :D

And if Mexico would pay more than the British Premier League and La Liga in Spain, Kaka and Ronaldo would be playing for Indios Cd Juarez...

Cash is always king for everybody

agreed people think that Kaka would play for Madrid if a brazilian team paid him the same amount of money ?

People dream about Man United, Real, and Chelsea as kids because they pay the most

If America, Athletico Nacional, paid that much people would dream of them too

im guessing that the average salary in FMF is around 200-300k a year..since so many are getting 1 million a year..it averages out pretty high..MLS on the other hand id say averages 50-60,000 k..many players on chivas uSa get 20-50 K..very low..the MLS needs to step up

    Rikin Fonseca ftl :(

Maybe its better they don't release the salaries, they'd have alot more Romano style kidnappings.

Mexico pays darned good, they pay the best in the Americas, it's just too bad that hasn't gotten them a libertadores trophy yet.
