Average player salary for South American leagues especially the top 3 leagues (Brazil, Argentina and Columbia). What is the range of player salary for First Division League in Brazil, Argentina, Columbia etc...? Top players get $1 mil a year? Above average player get $300,000 a year? Average players get $150,000 a year? Below average players get $50,000 a year? Any info (even guesses) would be much appreciated.
think top vet players in teh top team in colombia make about 12,000 a month... which isnt alot but Colombian league like has no money think Palacios of Boca makes about or a little over $1 milion a year but um u cant compare this to the US and MLS wages because the fact that um... the cost of living in Colombia is 100x cheaper than the US.
IN brazil Top players get $1 mil a year? Zé roberto earn 3,250 millions/year in santos, converting real to dollar in 2:1 exchange (actually is, 1,80). Petkovich (2005) in fluminense and rogério ceni in são paulo earn, 2,3 millions. Above average player get $300,000 a year? every big team have 5 or more. in vasco (my team): conca, leandro amaral, silvio luiz, morais and andrade earn more than this. Average players get $150,000 a year? unless newcommers or players in small teams, yes. Below average players get $50,000 a year? almost all players in brazil earns more than 5k dollars per month, then.. 5k x 13 (in brazil you receive the 13th payment in december)= 65k.
I know the case of Diego Castagno a player of Tigre, a club recently promoted to the first division, makes a bit less than 250,000 a year, probably since they are in the first divison and i think he's in the group of the best paid players of the club.
I would say that star players and veterans make about that much, which totals for almost US$150,000 a year, which is very good for any Colombian worker. Adjusting things according to each city, it would be a fortune in a small town like Bucaramanga, and good in Bogota or Medellin. As a matter of fact I would say that living in Colombia is not that cheap, it is surprisingly expensive, at least in Bogota. I would say that to make a decent living in Colombia, something like US$2,000 ($24,000) a month will be a fair amount, but not to live like a prince, although you'll be better off than 90% of the population. I remember that the Pasto player that got injured was making somewhere around $2,500 and he was an average player. Problem is, that most of it was paid not as salary, but as advertising rights or something like that, so he got scammed with his disability pension. But that is a different story.
Based on the little that I know/heard, in Venezuela is about the same for top players but I'm sure that the colombian league pays better. Venezuela's league shouldn't pay too bad, since we got Rene Higuita to come back to play again
The best paid player in Chile (for some reason ) is Colombian Giovanni Hernandez of Colo Colo, who earns somewhere around US $180 k a year (very good money in Chile, even though we have a very stable currency). I would add that in his case the money he makes probably does not include the car and apt. the club give him. Hope this helps! EDIT: I just found an article where it says Giovanni is earning US $15,000 a month, so 12x15=180. So he earns US $180,000 a year + a car and a (very nice) apt. Metro
I was rolling around in laughter when I read this. (I don't mean to sound like a jerk but your expectations were too high, that's all.) Metro
Metro, how much would you need to have a good standard of life in Santiago? Not overly indulgent, but like a fair place to live, a car, go out a couple of times a month, without splurging.
I am not sure how much the BEST players earn in bolivia, But i remember reading somewhere the average salary in bolivia was 40,000USD a year. Kind crappy, but still goes a looooooong way in bolivia as their cost of living down there is nothing compared to US.
Rogério Ceni, São Paulo's goal keeper, earns about R$ 350.000 per month, which is about two hundred thousand dollars. But keep in mind that it is his nominal salary. Every club in Brazil utilizes a tax evasion method called "image rights" in order to have most of the players incomes untributed (in Brazil, tributes are VERY expensive). So I would guess 350 thousand dollars?
actually the 350k for ceni is already total salary plus Image rights. almost all top players in brazil gain a salary of 10k-20k dollars, the money above that is normally from image rights. the reason is to pay a 10k salary to a contracted player you pay the same money to social security + other taxes. the image rights is a bussiness between a player personal company and the team, and have less taxes included.
Riquelme will be the highest paid player in Argentina now making I think 3.5 million a year. Of course after that the drop off is big. Palacio is probably next he makes 1 million a year. That's a shitload of money when taking into account the cost of living in Argentina and the fact that Buenos Aires is a very inexpensive city.
