    Wed, Jun 18 • Estádio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre • Group B

    [IMG] Australia vs [IMG] Netherlands

Kickoff: Porto Alegre (1300), Netherlands (16oo), Australia (Melborune) (0200)

Will the Dutch take their foot off the accelerator?
Fun fact: Australia have never lost to the Dutch.
    Should be an interesting game.

Tough game for Netherlands to mentally prepare for after such a big win against Spain.

Aust showed that they will keep the opposition honest but you'd expect a goal given up by inexperience somewhere by the Aussies here. Netherlands obviously have the class to win but if they go into this anything but fully prepared thing won't get 3 points.

Yes, a simple win will secure a spot in the next round. Please let's not stumble.

The only concern with Australia is experience. They played good football for 70 min against Chile, however I personally think a stronger creative team can confortably beat Chile as they tend to have alot of space in their own half. some of the passes and positioning against Australia was poor and the first goal Australia scored was courtesy of giving the ball too cheaply (by Chile) and havin a heap of space for the pacey Aussies to counter attack down the wings.

The Dutch will go into this game to score first and will then sit deep (full backs) to stop the pacey wingers coming through, and control the game.
Should be an easy win for Dutch, final score 2-0

Sorry guys, but this one will likely hurt.
You could try to send a bunch of cachaça and Brazilian senhoritas over to Oranje......

Temperature predicted to be around 7-9ºC at the time of the match. Will fall to 3ºC thursday morning.

Hope that will mean a fast tempo match!

Winter begins 21th June. Too bad Porto Alegre and Curitiba won´t have matches in July.

Will be a tough match for us and it will be totally different than the Spain match.
I expect we go with a 4-3-3 because there's no need for 5-3-2 against Australia.
We will have the most ball possession and really have to take the initiative this time.

Hope for an early kill and rely on our individual brilliance by RVP and Robben again.

Can't wait for this. I'm just hoping our back up RB, Ryan McGowen coming in for the injuired Ivan franjic, doesn't get badly exposed, as he really isnt a right full back. ( e.g against Ecuador)

Arjen Robben with his pace and skills will try and exploit this, which I'm worried that it will turn out badly for us. I'm hoping for a miracle and hope the boys do well, but I can't see us winning.

The Dutch are on a high after beating spain,so most likely they will come out all guns blazing. I heard in the Dutch media that for this match Van Gaal is planning to play a 433, which doesn't look good for our defenders. Good luck to both teams :)

Based on the second half of last Match against Spain, Australia doesn't stand a change. Based on the first half against Spain and the pre matches Australia certainly have a change!

It will be interesting to see what Holland can do and if they really are serious contenders for the World cup.

That attacking trio are gonna cause so much trouble for our defenders. Alex wilkinson (CB) weakness is his lack of pace and Ryan McGowen at RB, which I explained about him in my previous post. Doesn't look any good for the Socceroos

Probably the reason why Lens may start considering he's very fast.

Also more bad news is that our defensive midfielder Mark Miligan is out injured. So many of our main players are out injured (even before the WC started):(

Cheers mate, ill be rooting for Bosnia:thumbsup:

I suspect Australia will put up a fight but will ultimately lose by a relatively small margin (nothing like Spain). I'm rooting for Australia though.

    Yes! I hope so.

I want to see a score like 2-2 or 3-2 instead of another 4-0 or 5-1.

I would like the Australian team to put up a good fight another the giant Netherlands. I want the Australian team to show the world that they have the ability to fight against top European team.

Let's pray for the Australian team.

Okay forget the earlier 4-3-3 formation.
Holland will play exactly as they did against Spain.

I expect holland to win 2-0 but I hope De Guzman needs to play better. I'm surprised this Eredivsie defense has played well since I and others have been so critical. Let's go holland as long as they get 3 points I will be happy.

Defense is not the best but it's also an advantage these guys know each other from Feyenoord.
