Australia to host World Cup 2018 or 2022?

No, and its unlikely to happen. Dont be confused by the title of this thread. It was actually started when Australia first put in a bid for 2018 and 2022 before the bidding process started in earnest.

 

Im37 and I doubt Australia will host a World Cup of football in my lifetime. Once our sport gets a bit more powerful and starts to control its own venues and thus its own destiny, we'll be on our way to building towards that goal. So n we've not even started yet. My club doesn't even own it's own training venue or social club yet

 

I guess the Asian Cup will be a good dry run for you.

If it goes off without a hitch then you can gain momentum to try and get it in 2030 or beyond. I think you'll see one in Oz in your lifetime but unfortunately for you I think it will be centered in the east just like the Asian Cup.

 

Just don't lock half the fans out of the stadium 2 hours before the final begins and you'll have already outdone your predecessors!
