Seriously, as an American who lives in Qatar and just got back from holiday in Australia... I really can't understand how anyone can possible justify holding the WC in Qatar as opposed to either the US or Australia... and gotta say Aus would be the perfect place - fantastic, vibrant, safe cities, good travel infrastructure, plent of sporting culture, and if Qatar does lose it - it wouldn't change confederations giving it to Australia as it's another AFC country... let's hope FIFA see the light here, but something tells me when something makes perfect sense, FIFA simply won't do it...

How do you guys feel about potentially hosting the World Cup in 2022 now that Qatar will likely lose their right to host it because of the new Sunday Times revelations?

It'll be between Australia and the US. Either works for me :)

they will only change the venue when the sponsors balk on the change of season...which I think will eventually happen.

2026 is still wide open...I'm sure that FIFA is already accepting bribes...oh um what I really mean is financial incentives for doing good work on behalf of everyone involved in soccer around the world.

not really, because if one confederation hosts one, then that rules your confederation out for the next world cup or two.... unless you're UEFA who seem to get a WC every other cycle every now and then..... but if 2022 is in AFC Qatar, that rules out AFC Australia in 2026...

not anything that a few million placed into the right hands at FIFA can't get around...or you could go back to Oceania for just one cycle...lol

From what I remember reading during the world cup it seems the US is the front runner for 2026

I don't know the same confederation hasn't hosted two world cups simultaneously since the 1950s...

TBH we had such a fight with other codes to get the WC I am not sure I wanta do that again as it took so much attention away from the development of the A-League...

I would prefer to have a shared WC with Indonesia say they have three or four stadiums and we have six to seven...

I'd rather go a share with NZ and sell it as Oceania gets a piece of the World Cup, otherwise they'd never, ever get to host it. :)

    2015 Asian Cup in Australia.:)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup

I doubt that FIFA will give World Cup to Australia, since Australia got the Asian Cup. It's interesting, all matches will be played in South-Eastern Australia, without cities like Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Fremantle...perfectly nice chance to win this title, if we observe potential opponents.:D

Well it to be honest I don't think those cities have the stadiums to support this type of event. Plus all the cities where games will be played are about an hour by plane away from each other (except Bris-Vegas).

Yes, others seem smaller and older than these ones.

I'd beg to differ. They've already held the U-17 World Cup there, they have the rectangular stadiums capable of holding a World Cup, and a will to prove themselves on the big stage similar to us. It would be a perfect fit, but will FIFA take the risk? That's the big question. Without the Oil money to lubricate the way, we'd need an awful lot of political backing to get close. ;)

Wait is it confirmed that Russia and Qatar are definitely not hosting the WC in 2018 and 2022 anymore?
