I know we still have two more pre-season matches to go before the no Impact come to town, but I can't wait any longer. May I present, your 2010 season opener game thread... What? Austin Aztex FC vs. Mortreal Impact Where? House Park, Austin Tejas When? April 11th kick-off @ 6:00pm CST Why? Because we love this sh#t! So what are your expectations for the opening game and this upcoming season as well? The soon to be MLS whipping boy Impact were ok last year and should provide some entertaining football. I'm really interested to see how the revamp Aztex perform this year, and hopefully everyone has learned how to finish the damn game.
I expect this game to be very competitive with the new squad...unfortunately, I won't be there!...news at 11 is the best I'll get!
If the bhoys can re-produce the kind of pressure in the attacking third and the kind of bumper defense around their own, with fewer mistakes, that they showed against the Dynahoes, we might very well be seeing the begginings of a new era for the AAFC!! UP THE RAW!!! COME ON AZTEX!!!!
Well I don't know where else to ask this question. But what is the main medium going to be, for those of us not in the ATX, for following matches this season?? Is it gonna be mostly twitter updates? Is USLlive ever gonna be up and running again? Option C etc. etc. etc.
I am planning on covering all home matches via the twitter account "Aztex_MatchCast". Although primarily a service (free at that) for Chantico's Army members, I'm happy if others find use of it. For road matches, I'm hoping we have do the same, as long as I can get a feed. The only challenge at this point is June, during which time I will be out of the country. Anyone interested in taking the update responsibilities for these matches can contact me directly. Rumor has it (from NASL News) that there will be an online video feed for all USSF Div II matches this season. Although similar to USLLive.com, it will be run by USSF. Although they said there should be an announcement last week, I didn't see anything on the wire.
????? UHHhhhh boy I knew you Ranger lads were one or two nuts short of being crazy . Explain please, I'm honestly curious????
Sure hope he's not talking about this one. Because if he is, I don't think it's very complimentary. Kinda like saying, rather than "Remember the Alamo", calling our team the Alamo defenders. Because, really, the choice to defend the Alamo was a seriously questionable one. Brave, maybe, but stupid. Not sure I want to consider our team brave but stupid.
Actually we are talking about this one. In praise of the brave lads that charged toward the goal. PS have you seen the movie "Blindside". the meaning of the poem is explained (by Tim McGraw) in the movie as tribute to courage and loyalty and faith. Tennyson's poem, published December 9, 1854 in The Examiner, praises the Brigade, "When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made!" The Charge of the Light Brigade Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. 'Forward, the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns' he said: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. [hide] 'Forward, the Light Brigade!' Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldiers knew Some one had blunder'd: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Flash'd all their sabres bare, Flash'd as they turned in air Sabring the gunners there, Charging an army while All the world wonder'd: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right thro' the line they broke; Cossack and Russian Reel'd from the sabre-stroke Shatter'd and sunder'd. Then they rode back, but not Not the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro' the jaws of Death, Back from the mouth of Hell, All that was left of them, Left of six hundred. When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wonder'd. Honour the charge they made! Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred! —Alfred, Lord Tennyson
