Quite them this.....
Oats kare samma deshta.
I believe that is generally expressed, at least as I learned it, as: "otsukaresama deshita" if I remember correctly. I believe it really has no English translation that fills all the possible meanings but, I suppose, it is meant to both state appreciation for time spent and acknowledgement that the effort was tiring.
I also believe that the comment was directed at my granddaughters and, as such, they respond, "Kochirakoso arigatoo gozaimasu." (They emailed that to me as my Japanese does not really include expressing complex feelings.)
They both are quite fluent in Japanese. In fact the youngest just took a general school placement test in Japanese and scored well enough to be placed in regular advanced classes (2 grades advanced) with native Japanese speakers.
But enough bragging about the granddaughters. I hope I will be forgiven that brag after all they are my granddaughters and therefore nearly perfect in every way.

A Legend, L.E.G.E.N.D. and lil ol’ me.
On to Minnesota
Are you coming to Chicago on October 6th?
I was attempting to set it out phonetically for you but had no idea how far past any of that you were.
Now I am embarrassed.
Yet that phrase was perfect for your long suffering granddaughters !!
Do not be embarrassed at all. I do not really have fluency in written Japanese much at all but I can get by in spoken or phonetic using English characters. My Granddaughters however are pretty much totally fluent. In fact the youngest has been accused (complimented) of thinking faster in Japanese than in English. She also is mostly fluent in German and French and Spanish and the sub form of Cuban Spanish. The elder is just a bit further behind in the Romance languages. They both surpass me in every language field and the eldest passed me in mathematics about three years ago. She is now working, as well as I understand it, on a unity between game theory and chaos theory. When she was last here she tried to explain what she was doing and I felt a lot like Chaim Weizmann said he felt on the boat to the US with Einstein:
"During our crossing, Einstein explained his theory to me every day, and by the time we arrived I was fully convinced he understood it."
I have decided that I will just be content to let my little ones understand and I will accept. I still can beat either of them at Go. They have not yet learned the patience required. But that is coming I am sure. I will always have poker to fall back on. Plus I am much better at darts.
HaHa, absolutely, unless I am the main subject in an Obituary.
@jackdoggy missing a USWNT match, particularly a domestic one? Next to impossible.
Goin up north……to the Land of 10,000 Lakes and for a few wonderful days, the Greatest Team in the Universe. In doing so, also returning to the area of Carli’s……..

The Two-time Defending, the Two-time Reigning Women’s World Cup Champions will grace the Allianz Field (capacity 19,400) in St. Paul, Minnesota, Tuesday September 3rd at 7:00 Central. ESpiN2 has the coverage with no, NO pre-match show. Predicted to be in the high 60’s, rain clearing out in the morning and winds of 15 mph. In other words, absolutely perfect celebrating weather.
Sometimes by just looking at a place……I can tell that I’m going to like it.
If you want to see the USWNT FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy, better get your *ss in gear because you only have 66 hours and 26 minutes to get there.
The Journey with these Women, with this Team, may just very well be…….BEYOND
State fair in MN.
Cool. I'll be there as well.
Today finds me in Nashville.
I’ll go watch at the local AO meeting place.
From practice yesterday
Something new, a 11 v 11 full field scrimmage for about 10 minutes
post practice, about 5 Minn WNBA players took shots with Franch in goal.
291 minutes to Nirvana
Anyone know of a live feed for this game?
You probably do not mean this but the match is on ESPN 2 and that is available for streaming if you have a sub to it on most TV services.
My old memory may be misremembering past events but I remember that the second match of a two match set with the same country is usually quite a bit more even than the first with teams that were beaten easily in the first game hanging on and, in some cases, even gaining a tie.
I really cannot see that happening in this case as Portugal is pretty bad and I think there will be several US players looking to score as much as they can. However it would not surprise me to have Portugal score two or even three as the defense has not played particularly well since the WWC.
A 6-3 final score would not be surprising to me at all. Of course it could go 0-0 almost as easily. (If Portugal bunkers)
BTW: My granddaughters will not be watching live as they just do not feel at all excited about this match. They are going to run their day as normal watch later if they can.
McDonald getting the start with Lloyd and Tobin up front.
I see you @jackdoggy
Jackdoggy on the broadcast !!!!
You beauty !!
Dahlkemper equaled Spitse earlier in the day, but Lloyd couldn’t match van de Donk.
You would expect that a match that has as much attack and pretty fluid play would also be "interesting." But the only thing to recommend it is that there have been no glaring errors.
My dog, who usually faces the screen and even seems to watch at times just gave a HUGE yawn and rolled over and seems to have fallen deeply asleep.
The statement I made about no glaring errors just was negated. The US scores because of near total ineptitude of the Portugal defense to clear in a pretty easy to clear situation.
There was almost a second because Portugal has suddenly forgotten how to defend.
Portugal is REALLY bad.
Yes, f o f, the second game against an opponent is always a lot tougher. Coaching and experience definitely have an effect.
But in this game Portugal is proving to be even worse than they were in the first. It is only the US' current ineptitude in scoring that has kept the score low.
Also what I said earlier about Portugal scoring some goals looks to be totally wrong but the US may end up scoring 6-8 if they just hit the goal.
A PK and it is now 2-0 and climbing.
I'm terrible with facial recognition but I could have sworn the broadcast showed @jackdoggy
