I've been on the reform boat since 2017 yes even with CC17 and U21 Euro 2017 trophies in same Summer.

Mainz boss criticizes German youth promotion: "Other countries are hurrying to us"
Stefan Hofmann (photo), chairman of the board and between 2007 and 2017 junior coordinator at Mainz 05, has sounded the alarm regarding the training of German talents and called for a major reform: "When it comes to promoting talent, every stone must be turned around. The promotion of young talent from other countries has hurried to us. You have to analyze exactly what this may be. We have created better conditions, developed better coaches and installed better infrastructure - and yet we have diminished, "said the 56-year-old in an interview with the" Bild ".

Although Hofmann knew that the readiness ultimately had to come from the players themselves, whose attitude recently also BVB youth coordinator Lars Ricken criticized. However, the compatibility of school and sport is better in other countries: "There is a look to England interesting. There the teachers come to the academy and build the lesson around the training times. At the age of 16, the boys are middle-aged and focus exclusively on football when it comes down to a professional career. "By comparison, in England's national squad were ten players under 23, with Germany only three ,

Furthermore, but also the trainer education in Germany is a problem. Many coaches would, according to Hofmann, put too much emphasis on tactics in the youth field: "Then in the U13 it will be played in several systems and the entire team tactical range will be covered. We have to get away from this, as well as defining youth coaches exclusively about team successes. This suffers from the development of individual skills and abilities that should be the focus of education. "

Mainz 05-Boss Hofmann calls for chairman Löw

But Hofmann's criticism was not only directed at the youth sector in Germany, but also in the professional sector something had to change. For example, the DFB needs a "superordinate sportsman in the DFB, a sporting director, so to speak. Matthias Sammer was responsible for the junior teams and wanted to exert more influence. That was not allowed. "

For Hofmann a big mistake: "I think it is outdated that a national coach alone determines the well-being and woe. Jogi Löw has extreme merit for German football. Nevertheless, we need somebody to look beyond the entire field, to take on developments in football and transfer them to the entire apparatus, from youth football to professional sports, "says Hofmann

been saying it for ages, School is not optimized well at all for Germany and it does distract a lot from pro careers and then add more and more foreign players as competition. It's an issue anyway one looks at it. And yeah coaches obsessed about tactics and results and less about dev player is a massive - when the point of youth levels is to dev players....

seeing lots of praise at Hoff U19 about
Klein,Beier, John, Calhanoglu, Frauendorf. It's interesting that outside of Klein the rest are all 02s.

seems likely that Landwehr, Eitelwein, Schappes, Khan Agha (stock fell a lot post U17), Geschwill (I thought he did pretty well at LB last season for Hoff U19 including playing major role in their SF run in UEFA Youth League but seems like Calhanoglu is preferred and was always more rated) co might be less likely to make the 1st team but could end up in II. While 02-Weiss should be playing more but most of the focus is on 01s playing last season, seems more likely to be used more often next season. Could be interesting to see Hoff U19 next season mix 02s and 03s together.

Hoff II sucks this season, they are barely dev any players, they got 3 overage players in XI instead of dev youngsters. Damn, looks like 00-Heiland is still injured, been out since Feb 2019.....and a bunch of others really should be gone in Winter otherwise they will end up like Hoppe/ven den Berg who did nothing in their 1st season post U19 for whatever reason at Bremen II. I sometimes feel like II doesn't always seem to be about player dev even when it should be. When you see clubs like Gladbach II playing soon to be 24 year Makridis instead of dev young CFs, you know dev is not a priority.

also not a fan of all these false 9 clubs play at, Germany struggles to dev CFs because clubs don't seem as intent on dev them.

who seem to be the 02 CF? In no specific order
Beier, Woltemade, Borkowski (needs to be more efficient), Adeyemi, Pakia, Thielmann (can play numerous positions), Asllani

-Beier, Hoff 1st team seems to like him, they took a U17 player to Summer camp.
-Woltemade has trained with pros and already made his 1st team debut in friendly like last week
-Borkowski has been involved in Summer camp and supposedly Nagelsmann likes him
-Adeyemi, lol when most of Europe is after him and it seems confirmed from both Salzburg and Barca interest is real, nothing more to say.
-Pakia, HSV seemed very happy to have gotten him to join their club
-Thielmann, 1st team coach is very high on him
-Asllani, plenty of clubs are interested and everyone top to bottom at Union want to extend his contract.

    then you got
Gollnack, Kuhinja, Hartwig, Shuranov (did well last season in U17, U19 leagues and also Ukraine U17 and now doing very well in lower U19 league for FCN U19.Seems like we could see him in highest U19 level next season. You would think besides Besong (from Dortmund), they'd be high on integrating someone from their Academy.)

    Injuries category
-Hummel,he's not currently injured but had numerous issues in past. He currently isn't 1st choice as 01s are still focus currently at 2 goals in league. Needs to find consistency including fitness.
-Kramny, seems currently injured after having plenty of issues in past season. What was it broke both hands, growth sprout, etc. 0 games played this season.
-Harnafi has been injured all season for Gladbach aka 0 games all season.

Guys who are benchers due to 01 focus, so very likely will be 1st choice next season unless some 03s are better than them.
Tekin, Krasniqi, Jones (less for him since Borkowski is already ahead of him, lol), Halbich, Kohlbacher, Emini, Lipkow, Jusufi, Gorny, Varivoda, Kronemayer

if the injured guys can make themselves relevant and some of the current benchers it doesn't look too bad. In fact, it looks a ton better than 01 which only seems to have a few relevant CFs.

  4. Obviously he learned to defend in the league with the best defenders and at a club where the worlds best central defender learned his trade.
So his rise as a CD was bound to happen:)
Price tag for Dutch formed CD's starts at 50 million:D

    U17
    X2: Haj-Yahya, Kuhn
X1: Schmidt, Bobzien, Kraft, Hirschmann, Tambo, Hille, Safiew, Zentrich, Mashigo, Hausmann, Gundelach, Pesch (05, 3rd of the season), Eze, Moustfa, Bank, Mellado, Kloth, Bindemann, Kalonji, Dahlke, Zouaoui

Schmidt, Bobzien, and Trujillo seem like interesting Mainz players.

    U19
X2: Kyerewaa, Thiaw, Woltemade, Ruckert (even a Magdeburg CF has scored 8 goals this season in U19 Nord/Nordost continuing to show how weak defensively it is and that's the real issue, only 8 games have been played out of 26 and like 15 players are already close to hitting double or already hit that. Heck even the guys on 2-4 could still hit double by season's end.)
X1: Saglam, Bozdogan, Fehler, Kehrer, Michel, Schmidt, Gudra, Dinkci, Trumner, Sinev, Jesse, Ogbidi, Singbeil, Pudel,
    Bajraktari, Tasdemir, Cirillo, Kronemayer, Hoffmann

Dortmund U19 got trashed 4-0 by Schalke (no Unbehaun), yet again when they play vs one of their rivals they lose. Bozdogan seems to be doing well in his new club and seems to be captain too and getting lots of praise, wonder if he's a 1st team prospect, I mean they did manage to poach him from current 1st place Koln and that Koln was annoyed and were talking about how he could have made it with them. So how did Schalke lure him? Seems likely with being a 1st team prospect. I can understand the draw of Schalke, less likely to be relegation fighter than Koln and being dev by Elgert for 1 season.

    RL
Aslan (3rd), Latteier (4th), Schleimer (6th), Alt (5th), Fleckstein (2nd), Taz (7th), Ngankam X2 (8th, currently at 8 goals and 9 assists in 11 games with a good amount of games during the season as only sub player.), Covic (1st), Viet (1st), Meissner (3rd), Moker (3rd)

    3rd Liga
-S.Rhein with an assist in a 1-1 draw.
-Jensen scored a double (3rd of the season) and picked up an assist in a 3-0 win vs Bayern II. And Huth scored the other goal and his 5th of the season, seems likely Huth could finally be in 2BL in Summer. Bayern II were without Mai which is a blow to them, he has some knee issues. But with Sule out for awhile it could be his chance with 1st team.

    2BL
-Horn only lasted 35 min before being subbed out for injury.
-Massimo got a rare XI as Stuttgart lost to Kiel 1-0
-Badbuster got 2 yellows=red, could open up a spot in cb for Awoudja, Aidonis, Kober, Alonso and Mack (although he's currently injured). Would guess Awoudja could get XI chance and then another moves up to bench.
-looks like Groiss who made his 2BL debut and in XI last matchday was only temp as he was playing for the out Frode. Today Frode got 2 yellows=red and Groiss played entire 2nd half for his 2nd game, helped keep a clean sheet in that 45 min. As Karlsruher managed to salvage a 3-3 draw, could have won it too had it not been for a missed PK from Lorenz. Seems likely the only relevant youth player involved at Karlsruher Groiss will start the next game too.
-Ozcan played the entire 90 in that 1-0 win vs 2nd place Stuttgart, was his 1st start since a full month ago. Ozcan has potential but seems like hes been unable to cement himself at the pro level. I hope he has a breakthrough season on loan.

not going to name every starter or bencher.

    Eredivisie
-Sambou scored his 2nd of the season in a 2-1 loss.
-Kiomourtzoglou scored today in a 1-1 draw vs Feyenoord. It was his 1st real pro goal, before this season he was a 3rd Liga player.

    Ligue 1
-Henrichs made his 1st matchday squad since matchday 1, which he started but was unused. Looks like he's been injured/unfit in these past 2 months. Played today 25 min in a 3-2 win over Rennes.

    1BL
-01 Katterbach gets another full 90, in a 3-0 win vs Paderborn, getting his 2nd pro game. Since Katterbach started Koln managed to win 4 pts out of 6 and now climb out of the relegation zone. Hopefully more youth players get integrated, they got plenty of interesting guys and their U19s are currently in 1st place too.
-Kilian with his 3rd consecutive start for Paderborn, him and Vasilidias I wouldn't mind if they get saved from relegation in Summer.
-Serdar was unfit for Schalke while Geiger only lasted the 1st half for Hoff, likely due to picking up a yellow in 1st half as Hoff won 2-0.

you also had Schubert, Mercan, Boujellab and Kutucu (sub used) on bench.

-will be curious to see Mainz and youth players, way way too many prospects at this one club. They cannot all make it.
1st team: F.Muller, Dahmen, Gurleyen (also II), J.Meier (also II), Burkardt, R.Baku
II: O.Wahling (seeing praise for him and he was poached from Stuttgart), Akono/Hermes (Akono might be having some issues currently but players can get out of that. And I've seen + responses to Hermes, although less likely to make it), Kolle
U19: Tauer (pro contract), Papela (pro contract), Eyibil (currently injured but its' already confirmed they want to give him pro contract), Schonfelder (interesting player getting lots of praise, seems like he singlehandedly destroyed Frankfurt over the weekend, can play all over the left and seems capable all over attack too. Does well in defensive duels and in other areas as well), Gans, Nebel (only 02 and younger to participate in Summer camp and got lots of praise)
U17: Trujillo, Schmidt, Bobzien, Mekoma, Kraft, Reuther and I'm sure could be more. It's best to wait for them to play U19 1st.

and Mainz U19 even with injured Eyibil and Papela are currently #1 in Sud/Sudwest.

meanwhile sad that Ausgburg U19 are struggling 4 pts after 8 games, and currently 4 pts away from safety. There are individually some interesting players there but attacking wise they seem lacking, looks like they need reinforcement in Winter or try out some of the 02 cfs who barely played this season. Looks like they are missing Malone.

-saw Samardzic's hat trick, his last goal was basically him going solo, dribbling past 2 defenders and dribbling past the GK too to score, lol. It seems like only a matter of time....

    2BL
game between 2 top dogs this season between AB and HSV ended in a 1-1 draw. Fein, Vagnoman and Pieper all starting. Seems like Vagnoman has established himself at RB (can play both sides) and Pieper seems to be consistent at cb, should get a U21 look.
Unused bench: David (7 unused bench, still no game time this season, hope he gets it so that if HSV gets promotion he'd be more likely to be used), Staude, Seufert, Lucoqui, Kunze (still no pro debut with 10/10 unused bench, lol)

    1BL
    -Mittelstadt getting some praise.
    https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...t-gewinnt-alle-zweikaempfe-65493668.bild.html

and on Mai from ex 1BL coach Baum.

I mean Mai played 2 1BL game at CB when he was 17 and did well, why the lack of trust is beyond me. He also played the full game in that game where Bayern trashed Kovac's Frankfurt 4-1.

-Arp seems to say soon on instagram and according to TM he's back Oct 31. Let's hope he comes back soon.

-while 04-Copado released a pic of him and his dad (ex pro) and both are strikers. His dad was 1.70m for a CF and Copado as a 15 year old already looks like 3ish cm taller, could be more as he looks to be hunching a bit in the pic. And there that old topic of whether he'll be taller than his dad is answered and he could still grow.

Lasse Gunther seems to be doing well in the UEFA youth league; didn't catch the game today but another goal to his name.

Any thoughts on Torben Rhein? Seems to be well hyped. Angelo Stiller had 3 assists in this game as well to Zirkzee.

Gunther seems to be doing well vs older players (UEFA YL also includes players 3 years older and currently at 3 goals in 3 games) and too well vs his own age group when he plays for Germany. I liked Stiller today too, his 3/3 assists seemed to be perfect crosses behind the defense which made it all the more easy for Zirkzee. I'm curious to see what happens to Stiller, he's interesting player and doing well this season but seems likely could be going to 3rd Liga next season for II.

looks like Martinez and Hernandez might be injured from today's game. Which could open up chances for someone like Mai, but wonder if Stiller gets a call up? Or maybe Kovac calls up Will from II who even though hasn't played much still made 1BL bench and he seems to like him. A few others players I like like Mbi, Tillman etc.

as for Rhein usually compared to Kroos, but I feel like he does things that make him look less limited than Kroos and he actually seems to engage in duels too. And the potential is definitively there.

O.Batista Meier seems to be not developing well, has problems to adapt to the adult football according to Bayern II viewers. Dajaku is not as talented but seems to develop a lot better.
Meanwhile in Schalke Can Bozdogan is the the centre and leader of the U19 team. Dont understand why Streichsbier didnt nominate him until now for U19,has to be a part in the November games

I mean to be fair both OBM and Dajaku are supposed to be in U19 but currently playing in 3rd Liga (pro level) instead. A lot of players need time to adapt to higher level but more importantly vs adults. I feel like OBM seems more frail looking compared to Dajaku, which is why even if Dajaku is not as talented as him, he has the edge. And Dajaku can also play CF but has been deployed more W.

even 00-Kuhn seems to having some issues adapting vs adults and the potential is there for him too. That has always been an issue taking one's potential to adult foottball is complex and could end up being time consuming.

it's one big - for German football, when our players need more time to dev, especially physically and then clubs could just buy some youngster already physically dev, clubs aren't really that patient these days, they seem to want something as close as possible to the finished product as quickly as possible.

as for Bozdogan, he's usually on call only and Streichsbier is doing the usual dfb of calling up the same players. Would not be surprised if Papela comes back fit and he's chosen ahead of Bozdogan.

-F.Gotze is now out of 2019 and who knows when he'll comeback in 2020. Shame I thought he did really well in his limited 1BL game time. Now has been out for long term.

-looks like Mai could be moving up to the pros and II has to reshuffle themselves in his absence.

-looks like Nubel joining Bayern could end up making Fruchtl exit. I think he's better off climbing up in other clubs anyways. If youth players struggle to breakthrough Bayern, it's a million times worse for GK has it's a crucial position. Club wants 1st division experience.

seems like every season it's the same story only 1 German team is relevant in UEFA YL, this season it's Bayern U19. Dortmund, RB and Bayer are embarrassing themselves.

Adeyemi who had 2 goals in 2 games, today picked up an assist in a 7-2 win over Napoli U19. What sucks is that he assisted the tying goal but then was subbed out at 21 min. Seems likely he got injured, he likely would have scored given Napoli got trashed.

and 2 players everyone in Europe covets. Would say those 2+Gedikli (a lot of interest) and Arp (needs to get his hand fit again but the potential is definitely there which he easily showed in Summer Preseason with 1st team and he can still improve physically.), could be the strikers we are looking for if they pan out. There are plenty of others interesting guys but are more wait and see.

-Mai is training with 1st team

    2nd Mai update
Borussia Dormund, AC Milan are all interested in him.
The Rossoneri’s owners Elliott Management have so far deployed a recruitment strategy centered around signing young players with high potential, something that the 19-year-old definitely falls into the category of.

Now, Calciomercato.it have confirmed that among the objectives of the Rossoneri may be the purchase of a new central defender.

Lars Lukas Mai recently signed a new deal with the German champions, extending from 2021 to 2022, but that has ‘not ruled out the possibility’ of a switch in January.

The report claims that the teenager intends to find a club that will give him opportunities in the first team, even if that means a loan, having only played twice for Bayern’s first team.

Mai feels ready for the big jump he is flattered by Milan’s interest, CM.it continues, but Bayern boss Niko Kovac is now unlikely to sanction his exit.

However, Bayern’s rivals Borussia Dortmund are also interested in Mai, meaning Milan must spring into action quickly if they are to lure him to Italy.

Centre-back Niklas Sule is out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury while Lucas Hernandez suffered a serious ankle injury against Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

Mai’s chance to break into the team looks set to come now, and if he takes the opportunity then his departure in January would become an ‘almost impossible’ hypothesis.
    https://sempremilan.com/cm-bayern-m...d-by-milan-interest-the-complicated-situation

speaking of CBs and Bayern, I find 03-Mbi to be pretty good CB playing vs players 2-3 years older all the time as he's yet another 03 playing in U19. He dominates vs older players. Wonder what the future will hold for him. 03-Reinelt and 03-Denk (DM/CM, also U17 captain) are also interesting players.I don't think 02-Lawrence will make it at Bayern but decent prospect.

back to Mai, it really shows the Bayern issue, too many prospects but you need to open the door, otherwise your Academy prospects will be poached by other clubs.

Nmecha: I always used to play for England, because all my friends from Manchester City were there and we could travel together to the national team. But then I decided to go to Germany because I'm a native of Hamburg and feel comfortable in Germany.

pretty much what I said about the Germans who moved to England and became eligible for England for being there long enough. They preferred England due to especially teammates/friends, wanting to fit in and shorter trips since they play club football in England but as they grow up they change their minds to what they really want. Will be curious to see 03-Musiala in long run since he now plays in Germany/Bayern.
