I have been to hundreds and hundreds of games in my life and it looked more or less like 10k to me. Either way, it looks like CONCACAF might have to rethink having this tournament around. I knew preliminaries will not see many people attend but there have been games with under 1k people.
I think a lot of the reason this tournament is around is due to pressure from FIFA. It's pretty ********ing sad that CONCACAF had the most pathetic international club tournament in the world with the Champions Cup. 8 teams? 5-6 nations of 40 nations. not exactly stunning. Besides Warner is in some shit with FIFA and shouldn't even be a part of it. Wouldn't surprise me if FIFA said "show us that you improving CONCACAF a the club level with the money we have given you."
Didn't another thread just get locked because it was taken off topic in this direction? Why don't you just start a thread bitching about the number of US slots and stop ruining the rest of the threads on this board?
All off topic posts have been moved to: moved offtopic post thread for those of you interested. Otherwise, let's keep this thread on topic - ATTENDANCE. Gracias.
DC vs. Saprissa - 6105 San Francisco vs. Pumas - 7000 Montreal vs. Joe Public - 7631 Atlante vs. Olimpia - 13000 Puerto Rico vs. Tauro - 3500 That's all I have so far. Marathon and Santos still to come.
D.C. United v Deportivo Saprissa = 6,105 Marathón v Cruz Azul = 6,540 San Francisco v UNAM Pumas = 7,000 Montreal Impact v Joe Public = 7,631 Atlante v Olimpia = 13,000 Puerto Rico Islanders v Tauro = 3,500 Santos Laguna v CSD Municipal = 8,000 Average = 7,397 Median = 7,000
one thing that doesn't help is that it is during the week. If it was on a friday or sunday, the attendance would be better. I'm expecting that by the later stages this will change...
so far Atlante-Olimpia has the record can u expect more than 10.000 fans on the Cruz Azul-saprissa game?
All i know is that if MLS doesn't take this tournament seriously...or the clubs in MLS must really suck, then nobody will be watching these games
Until the semis I expect Saprissa will blow everybody else away in attendance. Either way, These attendances aren't bad really. Atlante and Montreal have proven as winners in attendance thus far with Pumas being solid as well.
The constant rain isn't helping either. It's been raining non stop for over a day in Puerto Rico and supposedly it's not going to stop. The Santos match will be played in puddle after puddle like the Alajuelense one and I expect the attendance to be small.
Cruz Azul never draws more than 20k on a regular season match so i dont expect more than 7k for the saprissa game
oh really, i thought they were a "big" team that brings a lot of fans to their games what score to you guys expect? I think its gonna end 0-0
Local newspapers are reporting that the attendance for the Islanders - Santos match was just over 10,000.
Was that close to full capacity? I mean its a shame that it was raining that heavy. I am pretty sure if the place would of sold out if it was not.
Yes all paying. Again, all tickets are paid for at the new saputo stadium and not that cheap. This is a great crowd, those tickets werent included in the season tickets package. Not sure about the champions league but for the regular season tickets range between 10 and 125$.
