Atletico Madrid will face Juventus at Wanda Metropolitano stadium, in Madrid, in the Champions League 1/8-Finals. Atletico Madrid against Juventus is always the match with big interest, especially during this season. Review our thoughts on this match here below.

    Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid this season is showing great abilities at the defense, as a result, they are the best in the LaLiga. Now Madridistas stand at the second position ahead of Real Madrid with 2 points difference and behind Barcelona with 7 points difference. It looks like Barcelona is standing strong at the first position and will hold it till the end of the season. However, this year, as every time could give us surprises and everything can change. Atletico this season scores few goals, however, they concede very rarely.
Europa League winners of 17/18 finished group stage of Champions League at the second place with the same amount of points as Dortmund. They lost only once, scored 9 and conceded 6 goals. In CL best player of the team is A. Griezmann with 4 goals and 3 assists, so that means that he was involved in almost all team goals. In January’s transfer window A. Morata joined the club, however, so far he has not revealed himself and is playing the same way as he played in Chelsea, without scored goals, and with missed chances. Koke and Lucas Hernandez will miss next match due to injuries.
This year they playing very stable football, with a great and strong defense, but not with the most confident attacking players. This team is great at stealing the ball from the opposition, creating chances using through balls, protecting the lead and aerial duels. Very likely that Atletico will try to take long shots and attack down the left.

    Juventus
Juventus this season is the undisputed leader of Serie A with 13 points ahead of nearest chaser. They have the best defense in the league. Moreover, their attack is most powerful too with Cristiano Ronaldo at the front. Its took 24 matches for Cristiano to score 19 goals and make 8 assists, don’t forget he’s 34 years old. Juve is the team that stays undefeated in all 5 top leagues in Europe. However, the group stage of Champions League was not so confident, as they lost 2 matches against Manchester United and Young Boys.
The two leaders of the team shared, Cristiano scores and lead the Italian league, however, Dybala shows his abilities in Europe with 5 scored goals. There are rumors in social networks that M. Icardi agreed with terms for joining Juventus in the summer. Almost all main squad players are fit and ready for the fight. Only Juan Cuadrado will miss the next match due to injury.
Bianconeri’s this season are great at finishing scoring chances, attacking set pieces, attacking down the wings and defending set pieces. Very likely that Juventus will try to play possessional football with short passes, attack more than opponents and shooting more often than the rivals.

    H2H
in the season 2014/15, these teams have met last time during the Champions League Group stage. That time Atletico Madrid was stronger and won the match at Wanda Metropolitano stadium, however, in Torino, they played a draw. Both matches finished with only 1 scored goal in total. Mario Mandzukic will play against his previous club. In total, a lot of changes have been made for the last 4 years in both clubs.

    SmashingTip:
Atletico Madrid plays very strongly home matches, however, last several matches they are struggling. Juventus this season looks very confident as well as in defense, as in the attack. Juventus have very big plans for this season and especially for Champions League, so they are set to fight till the end in every match. As a result, Juventus should control the match, despite playing in Madrid, and very likely that at least they don't lose.

Well, so much for that.. they lost 2-0.

That being said, as odd as it might sound.. i personally do not feel this tie is over. I believe Juventus have a legit chance at turning over that 2-0 deficit and at the very least taking this to extra time.
