Sorry, but it looked to me like Espinoza was frustrated by the call and deliberately stepped on the calf out of frustration. That’s actually a straight red
Both yellows deserved = deserved red... But the boys are playing like they still want 3 points let alone a draw! C'mon Quakes, you can get something out of this one!
Again, I'm not saying Espinoza is without blame. I'm saying that the initial foul that was called was absolute BS, and that play wouldn't have transpired had the ref not bought an obvious dive.
Typically when you are playing and accidentally step on someone instead of the ground, you roll awkwardly off them, even spraining your ankle at times. In slow motion you can see Espinoza very easily step off the leg, like he totally expected he was going to stand on it.
I assume MLS teams can't play games under protest the way they can in MLB. I'd love to see that be implemented. There's no mechanism to correct games that are totally botched, and there have been so many over the years.
What a freakin disaster, Espinosa might have ruined the season. We need all 3 points Wednesday and now it's dubious.
A season can't be ruined by one moment. He made a stupid mistake, but there were plenty of mistakes that have added up to their current position. Plus, the team is 100% more entertaining than they've been in about a decade, so the season is far from ruined. Even if they make the playoffs, it's extremely unlikely they get past the first round.
ATL guy is on the ground spinning around and Espinosa kicks him going for the ball. No way that's a card and definitely not a second. No way that is called on a team like LAFC or the Galaxy. Great game ruined and we lose our best player next week. Hopefully we can protest it but I don't hold my breath. Refs are incompetent, time to play dirty and bait Meram into a second yellow to make it fair
Danny loves to be turned loose to just take on the whole defense. Wouldn’t surprise me if Quakes steal a win with it
His play could be the difderence between a home playoff game and no playoffs at all. I mean, downplay it if you want...
I'm not going to argue with you anymore. If you aren't willing to try to understand the compounding effects of all the decisions and results that happen over the course of a season and want to just blame all of it on a single event because it happened recently is up to you. And it may not even end up mattering as the season isn't over yet.
