Wow, reading that really pissed me off. Haynes was totally blindsided and it sounds like Boris (and the new owners) was acting like a complete jackass and not taking reality (stupid format, no money, young players, etc etc etc) into consideration. And they're not really considering Wynalda? Of course that might just be a deflection. Ugh, I'm suddenly really worried about next year.
Silverbacks bring back 11: D Josh Suggs, D Bobby Reiss, D Mike Randolph, D Beto Navarro, M Mario Uribe, M Scott Rojo, M Pablo Cruz, M Borfor Carr, M Horace James, M Jesus Gonzalez, M Alex Caceres. http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/fc/news/item/club-exercises-options-on-11-players Lots of good picks here. Pretty glaring no forwards brought back yet. Speaking of which, pretty sure Stisser is gone, he tweeted a thanks to the club for the opportunity.
Yeah. Whoever they replace Haynes with better have a great track record or they will have some messy PR problems to deal with.
The big elephant from all this is the new ownership. This unnamed guy just got the coach of the year fired.
Do you know something we don't? Also, looks like "free agent" Milton Blanco went to Edmonton: http://www.fcedmonton.com/news/FC-Edmonton-Signs-Midfielder
Annnd here's one reason why Wynalda may not replace Haynes: "Salt Lake City-based radio station ESPN 700 reported shortly after the announcement of Kreis' departure that RSL assistant Jeff Cassar, current New York Red Bulls assistant Robin Fraser (formerly an assistant with RSL and head coach of Chivas USA) and former USMNT star Eric Wynalda were the top three candidates for the coaching position." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ch-real-salt-lake-will-take-top-job-new-york- I bet Haynes ends up an assistant at RSL if Wynalda gets the job.
So with Blanco and Barrera now off to Edmonton and San Antonio respectively, it looks like I might have to try out for the team.
If I'm perfectly honest, Blanco hurts more than Barrera. I know Danny is creative but his constant red cards got really old. Maybe adapting to a brand new team will give him some maturity. Still, I really hope they have a plan in mind because our midfield is vanishing quickly.
I don't know what to make of all this drama. At least we have something to read about during the off-season.
I can't go into details but it was an untenable relationship between Brian Haynes and the rest of the organization.
I know he's pretty big on the Jesus stuff, wonder if that had anything to do with it. I'm not religious but whatever gets the players going I say, but I can see how it might ruffle some feathers.
He is, and he was always willing to speak at length with me whenever we crossed paths. Of course he may not have been the catalyst for the clash of personalities (if that's what was at hand), but we'll probably never know the full story.
A lot of changes taking place for a club that just fired the coach. Is Wynalda making all these decisions or is Boris?
Reckless Challenge has a couple more quick quotes from Haynes... http://www.recklesschallenge.net/haynes-talks-sacked-silverbacks-nasl-cosmos-wynalda/
Alright enough about who's leaving. Who's coming in? Think we can get Coach Saban from Alabama? Sorry, wrong message board.
At the very least Cruz and Navarro are hanging around, so yes. Alex Caceres and Jesus Gonzalez also have Cal FC connections, right?
