better for her to go when she wants to rather then hang on too long and suffer the embarassment of being cut.
When she retires she will justifiably be deserving of the honor and recognition for being the public face of American women's soccer even though she didn't seek the glory (a task she willingly assumed after Akers contracted chronic fatigue and could not fulfill that role). She will also deserve credit for maintaining her excellent level of play for her whole career and for inspiring her teammates to elevate their game (look how many of them say Hamm is the glue that has held the team together). Considering how much more money she has made than all of them, with jealousy an unfortunate natural impulse, that achievement is probably Hamm's most elevated and most enduring. Thanks, Mia.
Ehhh I'll just put this in here...a GREAT USA Today article on the old farts... Games end, pals forever for women's Fab Five By Kelly Whiteside
I wish every WNT player that got through a bad knee injurie..cough..mac..cough..were as lucky. I'm guessing now, some are just looking for jobs and a place to live. Nice to know Mia will live happilly ever after though...really, she is awsome...I luff her.
We all know that Mia's husband and Brandi's husband are gainfully employed. Does anyone know what Julie's husband (Ian Sawyers) is doing now?
That was before he coached 3 years in WUSA. And I think he's too old now to try the tour. Maybe he's helping out with soccer camps somewhere.
Re: SD Union Tribune Article Is this a mistake on the part of the writer? I thought Mia wanted to play in the league when they relaunched?
Mia has made it clear on several occations that she would play in the league. it is close to home. the schedule is not as long and the prep time is shorter as well.
Re: SD Union Tribune Article The same quote appears in today's edition of a paper from Del Boca Vista, FL: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/content/sports/epaper/2004/08/08/a8bb_olyhamm_0808.html
The folks running the Chicago Cobras would love to have her: http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sports_story.asp?intID=38206263
Actually, Mia has made it clear over the past few weeks that she will NOT playing in the league if it picks up again.
