He is trying so hard to get attention from us by keep talking about our national team but he finds no success. I do not understand why he desperately wants to talk about our team. IMO he has no right to talk about our team when we do not talk about Mongolia national team. He should focus on Mongolia national team because they are totally irrelevant in World Football. So he should know his place :D

Vahid Amiri played in Azadegan league (the second highest division of professional football in Iran) until age 24. You can imagine where Amiri would have been if he was born in one of top European football countries. Also Omid Ebrahimi played in Azadegan League until age 23. I was never Taremi fan. I still think we should have used a more creative and technical player instead of him. I know Beiranvand had a good performance in the World Cup but I still think Hossein Hosseini is our most talented goalkeeper.

A good news is that Reza Shekari promoted to Rubin Kazan senior team before the end of last season. He played in all pre-season friendly matches like games with Reading fc, Hajduk Split, etc. Hopefully he gets decent playing time this season. He is not ready to be called up to the national team yet but he is heading in the right direction.

Well, it's the internet. Every mental case and social outcast tries to carve out a niche for himself. This Iran obsession is this mental case's obsession. He's probably not even Mongolian. There's like 2 million of these people left and I'd be shocked if any of them could even point to Iran on the map, let alone become obsessed at John Bolton levels of crazy. He's your typical mental case: some wahabi troll with an Iran obsession that won't let him sleep at night.

Why are you guys so obsessed with qataris? There's only 200k of them and for the most part completely clueless about football. He's probably a korean sock, still reeling from 2014.

Looks like Saman Ghodos is going to a newly promoted team in La Liga (Huesca).

Kaveh Rezaei is bought for a record-breaking (within Belgium) 10 million dollars by Belgium's biggest side and Champions League side Club Brugge and is given the famous shirt number 10.

Saman Ghoddos moves to Amiens SC in the French Ligue 1 in another record breaking deal and after just one day of joining the team, makes an instant impact by scoring a goal in his debut.

The Iran hero has been disastrous so far unfortunately. 0 goals and 0 assists and he was named in the EPL's worst eleven of the first half season. Good luck next year.

sardar azmoun finishes as 2nd top scorer in russian league, with 13 goals in 13 games. of the players in the league who played a significant amount of minutes, 4 of them scored a goal around every 160-170 minutes (which was significantly better than all other players' score rates in the league), one of whom was azmoun.

i would argue that after vahid hashemians 2003-2004 season with bochum, in which he scored a goal every other game and finished as 4rth top scorer in the bundesliga, this is the most impressive season stats-wise for an asian striker in europe. it was always evident that he had the capability to pull off such a season, when you looked at his performance in the champions league and with the national team: the only reason his league performance didnt match was because of the team he played for. but after he moved to zenit he got the chance to score more and did. he made a mistake of staying too long in rubin. i dont mind if he stays at zenit if he is scoring like this, but he is definitely good enough to go a top 4 league.

i dont recall any other asian striker having a better season in europe goal-wise, compared to these 2.

honorable mention goes to alireza jahanbakhsh, who was top scorer in the eredivisie as a winger, netting 21 goals in 33 games.

i had him in mind when i made that post. 13 goals in 13 games in russia is more impressive than 20 goals in 25 goals in ukraine. if you were talking about jahanbakhsh, he became top scorer as a winger, so it was more impressive than shaktsikhs season.

people talk about son heung min but vahid hashemians 16 goals in 32 games for bochum are more impressive than any of sons seasons at tottenham. it remains the best season scoring wise for an asian player. however, son has been better overall throughout his european career because he has good seasons consistently.

You're forgetting a certain someone named Cha Bum Kun. 17 goals 34 games in the Bundesliga (at a time when it could actually be considered the best league in the world) and 19 goals in 38 games all competition.
But Imo, Son has already surpassed even him from an individual pov. No one in Asia now or in the past comes close to his talent.
There's a reason people are talking so much about him. He's doing it in the best league in the world, with the most eyes on him, the home of football media and like you said, he's been very consistent. Ig it also helps that it was coming off a world cup where he bagged 2 memorable goals. (He has 3 in total btw. Which is as many goals as Iran has scored the past 2 tournaments)
Give me a goal winger all day over a striker that will fall off after a career year. Son is a world class player and he's just getting started.

i know about cha but that was just was a different era, ancient to today, so i didnt include him. but ok he matched hashemians record, he didnt surpass it.

in terms of son, im sorry to say but he is overrated. he couldnt score a single goal against Iran in how many games? azmoun actually scored against south korea.

"no one in asia comes close to his talent." im sorry but azmoun is at least as talented as him, probably more talented. azmoun also had a better season than him this year.

look, son is good, one of the best asian strikers of all time, but he is overrated. anybody who plays in england gets overrated. if he was putting up the same numbers for dortmund or atletico madrid, he would not get as much fame. and his record for the national team is nothing special, azmoun is certainly above him in that regard.

Son is vastly overrated. Even our U-21 defenders owned him in the Asian games.

Yeah Azmoun is sick..I rate him above anyone else on TM.
But if you think he's more talanted than Son then we'll agree to disagree lol

This notion that Son's overrated and doesn't show up internationally because Iran has shut him out is something that I've noticed exists within a select group of Iranian fans who seem to be in denial about the player that Son has developed into..Look at the quality of teams he HAS scored against internationally. So because CQ and his tactics shut him out twice he's overrated now?
How many Asian players have been universally agreed upon as genuinely world class?

It'll be interesting to see if Azmoun takes the next step. I can see him putting up similar numbers to Rondon in the Premier League as long as his team feeds him.

Overrated to Persian fans in denial. If anything, he's been a vastly underrated player who is finally getting his dues.

Yeah about that game, Iran had a chance to send him to the army. Bottom line is that he got the W.
It's a shame he's free from service though huh. You must be getting tired of hearing about him from the evil English media
