    The Asian Youth Games starts on 29.06.09 in Singapore. This is the Asian Games for under 14’s, a prelude to the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore next year. As is the practice with multi-sport events of this nature the soccer group matches have started earlier.

    China is in the same group as South Korea, Myanmar and Pakistan.

    Results so far:

    China 7 – Myanmar 3;
    South Korea 2 – Pakistan 0.

    China 0 – Pakistan 0;
    South Korea 5 – Myanmar 1.

    As you can see the Chinese u-14 team has plenty of potential. It is already playing like the national team.

    Meanwhile the Hong Kong and Philippine teams have been quarantined as some of their players have come down with H1N1.

    Results:
    South Korea 3 - China 2;
    Pakistan 1 - Myanmar 1.

    S. Korea qualifies for knockout stage with 100 % record (9 points)
    while China qualifies (4 points) thanks to Myanmar.

    Lets hope China improves as the Games progress.

    OK Some correction needed here. The teams that qualified have been regrouped into groups A and B. They play round-robin matches in the respective groups. Top two qualify for the semi-finals.

    Group A: China, Iran, Singapore, Thailand.
    Results:
    China 7 - Thailand 0;
    Iran 2 - Singapore 1.

    Group B: Laos, N. Korea, Saudi Arabia, S. Korea.
    Results:
    N. Korea 2 - Saudi Arabia 2;
    S. Korea 8 - Laos 1.

    China plays Iran today.

    As expected, Iran and China qualified from Group A. Hope China can unexpectedly beat Hanguk in the semifinal and then once again unexpectedly beat the winner of Iran vs Choson in the final to meet the expectation of Chinese fans. :D

    Wow nr 10, Yan Peng right? He looks kinda impressive scoring 8 of those 10 goals. Hopefully he can develop further into a worldclass striker that we so desperately need.
