Good win. But terrible defending by Syria. The Saudis were all out attacking. What's Syria's excuse? Not gonna be as easy for China with tougher teams in the next round.

1-1 Thailand. Next, the knockout stage. First up, the DPRK.

There goes the win streak. Oh well, better not pull the same mistakes in knockout stages.

Half, still goalless. But quite entertaining. The DPRK looked more motivated than China. Probably has something to do with the celebration going on right now in the DPRK. They probably want this as a gift to their soon to be new dear leader Little Little Kim. :D

Back to back goals to the DPRK, Little Little Kim must be dancing now. The first major achievement since his coming out party. :D

Might as well. By the look of it, don't think China can come back from this two-goal deficit.

Looking back, I questioned the coach's decision to play all the reserves last match, against Thailand. I don't know how much he borrowed from the basketball team's similar move recently. I supported the basketball team's move to do that but that was because the starters were all burned-out. Not this case at all. They don't seem to have the same rhythm after skipping one match.

You're right teamdragon I'll just cry myself back to sleep, safe in the knowledge that China don't have a bright football future.:(

maybe yenster and the rest of the chinese fans should be grateful that the china youth is gonna lose :)

    for the past few editions
china youth team has been very successful
and when they grow up, they eventually didn't work up to their talent.

look at chen tao and his wicked smile long range free kick, and look at now.
look at mao jianqing and his rapist agility, and look at now.

who knows what will happen to this edition of the china youth
maybe losing out early, might be a good sign for our future :D

Exactly, just like 1+1 sometimes equals 3. :D

It's hard to infer much from just one game. In the Saudi game the kids looked like they were gonna change the world. In this game they were flat, obviously unprepared for a DPRK team who played like their lives depended on a win. I think a case could be made here the China coach didn't do his job well enough to prepare the kids.

Ah damn......At least we can count and bank on the absolute fact that our football programs will never fail to disappoint. :(

Btw, this means we are out of the U-20 World Cup next year again right?

It's really ironic that DPR Korea which was beaten convincingly by China in the qualifying rounds knocked out China in the quarters and went on to beat Australia 3 - 2 in the final to emerge as champion.

A little less ironic is the fact that Saudi Arabia also beaten soundly by China in a group match qualified for next year's Youth World Cup.

What more can I say. Frustration from head to toe.

    Three more tests to come.
    1) Asian U16 in Uzbekistan Oct 24 to Nov 7
    2) Asian Games U23 in Guangzhou in Nov.
    3) Asian Cup in Qatar Jan 2011.

Wonder if the AG team is actually U21 so that the players will be eligible for London 2012.

from the 2 matches i watched, i wasn't as impressed as some. the first one with the Saudis, i thought the scoreline was flattering, we certainly didn't limit the no. of chances they had to score. the 2nd match was disappointing for me because when we were a man up, we still could not keep the ball effectively even with the advantage. i was really hoping the coaches instill in our kids, a technical style based on possession and short effective passing. i don't mind losing if we play like that cuz this mindset will eventually pay off when they get older.
