i believe magath's harsh training would make him a bit ready
he will also have the iraq friendly to prepare himself.

i think he would play as a super sub role for asian cup.

Backup goalie Zeng Cheng injured during the game against Estonia. Looks serious enough that he might miss AC2010.

as I said at the outset, this is a side that realistically could get to the finals, especially if they can finish first in the group and avoid Japan & Korea until then. At the same time, I could easily see everything falling apart and not even making it out of the group stage. Injuries are going to be a huge issue, we don't have a decent strike option (anybody who says Gao Lin hasn't watched him play over the past year and while Yang Xu is a good player, this is his 1st international competition) and our defense at the best of times is spotty, but without Feng, it could be pretty bad. I'd say quarterfinals are about as far as we'll go.

God help us all. I wonder who is the bigger fool, Gao or Magath. Gao speaks Chinese and knows Hao a lot longer but still reaches the same conclusion as Magath.

..........FFS... What are they trying to do? Help Hao Junmin get a RB spot back at Schalke from Uchida? That is a puzzling decision if true.

Honestly, I don't think I can speak confidently that this rendition of the China NT can go all the way. I mean, yeah I guess it could be possible, but a LOT of things would have to go right in other matches for us to get the favorable matchups. I have a feeling our first big obstacle will be Saudi Arabia...

I'd be happy if they make it out of the group. Let's just hope I'm underestimating...

Also it seems like Feng renliang lost his place on teh NT b/c of the age scandel. Injury was just a cover up...

    Re: Asian Cup 2011

the roster looks pretty much like I expected, though Li Jianbin is kind of out there, he's not someone who has spent a lot of time with the national team and I'm a little surprised Gao didn't go a different way with Feng's replacement (like using Datou). I'm also more than a little shocked that Yan Xiangchuang wasn't included, he seemed like he'd be the automatic starter on the right side, I thought Qu Bo would be used as a super sub either in midfield or up top, but now I guess he's your starting right winger (or maybe Hao plays there if he's fit?), very surprising, especially when Wang Song is taken for the squad.

I wish he would have also went a different way with strike options, but without Han, there aren't a lot of choices and Qu could play up top as well.

Qu's definitely good. I never rated him when he was younger, but he's really come along nicely and developed into an all around player. He single handedly kept Qingdao up last year and he can score and set up goals. The only problem is that he's used to playing as a striker, he has the speed to play on the wings, but with only 2 strikers, not sure why Qu isn't put there as well.

Mao fell out of favor after 07 and struggled a lot in Shanghai, also becoming a locker room cancer. The move to Shaanxi helped him, he did score 5 goals this year (though 2 were against Shanghai) and with all the injuries, I would have liked to see him in the lineup, or at least given a shot.

See above as to why there are 2 forwards, the reality is its probably academic, even if he took 3, whoever the 3rd would be isn't going to play in Qatar. I think the greater wtf is choosing 3 goalies, that makes absolutely no sense to me...

I'm liking this guy more. And should also give Wei Di credit for giving him 100% trust and autonomy, unlike his CFA predecessors' interfering ways.

    http://sports.sina.com.cn/n/2010-12-27/09165382922.shtml

    http://sports.sina.com.cn/n/2010-12-28/09075384294.shtml

i doubt 朱骏 and his crony could do a better job
it is in general consensus that
the chinese team is not in good shape.
it is better to be realistically humble than being ignorant.
