Painfully average player who returned to his usual self against Chelsea. We should all hope that LvG doesn't see him as a starter next season.
Glad to see he's finally producing for the club. Still has a bit to go before he gets to the level of his AV days...
As much as many don't seem to care for him, I'm really happy that he finally managed to turn it around and become a useful part of the squad this past season. And even if he's not a regular as he was at the end of the season, he should prove a nice option off the bench if necessary. http://www.manutd.com/en/Fanzone/Ne...g-on-Ashley-Young-joining-United-in-2011.aspx
I wanted to sign him but bar a brief flirtation with good performances he has been disappointing in the main and acceptable at best over the last half of the season. He has let himself down.
He definitely has let himself down without a doubt for the vast majority of his United career but this season he has at least managed to make himself relevant again and made himself an integral part of the squad and not just a waste of space. As previously mentioned, he shouldn't be a regular starter next season but as long as he keeps on doing what he's been doing this season, he'll be a viable option off the bench if necessary.
AY about to be offered a new contract. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...s/manchester-united-news-ashley-young-9560766
I sure hope he stays. He doesn't need to start obviously, but he's a great option to have off the bench. Another guy who earned his place in the squad last season.
That may be so, but he still one of our most important players down the stretch. Plus his versatility is an asset that makes him more than useful to our team.
I don't care about stats to be honest, I trust in what I see. And I'll say it again, while I never claimed he's a world beater and should be starting for United, he stepped up to the plate when he was called upon, produced and was one of our most consistent performers in the run in. Not to mention he proved himself as a team player, stepped up to the responsability of becoming a leader in the squad and has shown he will do whatever is asked of him. For all these reasons, he has a place in the squad as far as I'm concerned. That's it really.
Yeah, you can laugh all you want but stats clearly tell only part of the story. So if that's all you go by to gauge players, that's fine and that's your deal but that's not how I judge a player's performance personally.
Young has earned his place in the squad. By no means should he be in the starting 11, but he's a decent depth guy.
The Young from the season and a half prior to this one is completely useless to us and should he revert to that kind of form, he definitely can leave. But the player from last season, especially towards the end of it, is a player who will help with the squad's depth and provide a spark off the bench whenever it's needed.
And when it's all said and done, that's your opinion. In a 22-23 player squad, I think that Young is more than good enough for a team that want to win trophies, especially in a sub/reserve role, not to mention for his experience and leadership as well.
