Well done to Thailand for gettign a 3-0 victory over China in the AFF event, just need to overcome Australia, which will be one hell of a challenge to qualify for the final.

Also, well doen to Malaysia for picking up ASEAN's first point in the AFC U16 Championship, drawing 1-1 with Yemen

Bad few days for our teams:

    AFF U19 Championship

    Day Three Results

    Thailand 1 - 2 Australia
    South Korea 1 - 0 China

South Korea meet Australia in the final. Thailand play China for 3/4 place match

    AFC U16 Championship

    Group Results

    UAE 3 - 2 Malaysia
    Indonesia 0 - 1 India
    Iran 4 - 1 Singapore

None of our teams could muster a win in the AFC Championship. Only Malaysia managed to get a point against surprise Group Winners Yemen. More than anything, it's bad to see the sides leak a hatful of goals. It seems we don't just get beat, but get absolutly stuffed.

Indonesia it seems work their 'stuffings' into the full national team, and Singapore simply give up on the youngsters and push in 'foriegn' players. About time our teams did some defensive training.

    Set of results here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFC_U-16_Championship_2008

Also in addition to the U16 event. Indonesia play with a 2nd string, as their best players go to play in South America.

So once analysed, you see a few differences between being stuffed as everyone plays on a different basis

Singapore Today Paper has reported FAS hve approached JFA help for local players to play in the J-league under the new Asian player rule

They shortlisted a list of local players to send to J-league for trail for the 2009 season

FAs rarely get invloved in getting local players overseas as they believed the players in the end must benefit & nt just sit on the bench or be sidelined & this is of the 1 of the time as the Asian player rule mean local do get action & nt be sidelined

The Second Tournament Division will run from March 31 and finish on May 15, 2009 while the Third Tournament Division will be scheduled in mid-October.

The final round of the U-15 tournament will run from August 12-22 while the finals of U18 will take place from July 8-18, and the U19 tournament January 2 to March 12. September 17-27 will be when the U21 tournament is held.

by bringing players from other countries VFF think they can solve the problem (improving the ability of the players in the national team to play soccer well, at least as well as Thailand's level or achieving their goal that is to capture the AFF championship trophy, let's assume they actually did get it, did it really reflect the reality that VNese could play excellent soccer on bar with Thailand or Singapore? the answer is big NO), fat chance! V-League has had ton of foreign players, but as you've seen, importing international players has not raised the level of skills of Viet national team as a whole. As you've seen them play games, the way they play soccer is pretty bad like how kids in kindergarden play soccer, running around like ducks lost their head) not like a professional soccer team would play, yet all of them got paid to play soccer professionally,.... fundamentally, they suck in everything from ball control to passing to defending ... speaking of defense, if one were an under dog, should one have to play well in defense that might improve his odds against a better opponents), Viet players have the tendency to stand around alot, not marking his man, or giving too much room, or four or five Viet players jump on one players of the opposite team.

I believe this is the Viet's mentality: the goal is to score doesn't matter how it's scored ... but to improve one's chance to score, should he need to achieve to certain level of proficiency ?
VFF is taking a shortcut to solve a huge problem by bringing players from other countries , they should attack the problem from the ground up, fundamentally, not from top to bottom by paying extravagant amount of money (in Vietnam standard) to bring foreign players in.
is there such a thing the genetic makeup of Vietnamese is not wired to play soccer well? (mental aspect) hahahaah I refuse to accep the idea !

Haha, don't think we VNese are similar to those Singaporean. We do not importing players, they are half blood Vietnamese, every one of those has mother or father is a Vietnamese and now they come back to serve the nation. The VNese proud do not let too much foreigner in the national squad like those Singaporean.

And talking about the way we Vietnamese play soccer, I think the results in AFF CUP and recent matches prove a lot. No need to make any comment. Only "short-circuit" guys should blame VN's defence now, they're simply incredible.

Now that's just flame-baiting. Everyone knows Vietnam is a homogenous society, and that Singapore was never a homogenous nation. We're made up of all sorts of races and ethnicities, like a mini-America.

Hence, there's nothing wrong to a Singaporean like me, to see many ethnicities from all over the world playing for the Lions, as long as they are citizens, and willing to make a life and career here.

Is that still a homogenous nation:D

Even history tell us the mixing of ethinic grp may be bigger than most expect as over the age many grp hve moved becos of wars or changing environment etc & each grp hve many mix from other

Etc In china Jews discover a lost grp through DNA who looked totally chinese & acknowledged that it come through mixing over the age

Don't care about homogenous or not, the only thing should care is Vietnam NT is made of Vietnamese. That's all.
