Glenn Davis of the Houston Chronicle chatted with Manuel Lapuente when he was in town last week for the America x Tigres friendly. Some interesting comments about Lapuente's tactics and his thoughts about Mexicans playing abroad, among other things:

Btw, Davis reports that 15,000 showed up at Robertson Stadium for the friendly - IMHO a pretty amazing number considering how cold (by Houston standards) and rainy it was that night.

Thanks anderson for the link to that article on Lapuente. Except for the LA Times Grahame Jones and now Glenn Davis not many English language soccer writers from the US cover soccer from Mexico. It's good to see someone at least give coverage to the best league in CONCACAF.

Lapuente is a strange character. His teams are pragmatic but I do give him a lot of credit for producing a pretty successful team in France 98.
