Idk. This ref has been letting a lot of physical play go, and it's been really consistent. For once, it worked in our favor.
Their loss. Then again, he'd probably be on his 3rd loan if he stuck around with them. Who knows if the kid is any good, but that was one hell of a first impression for me.
Absolutely! There were a host of non-calls: PK, red card, etc. For once we got the luck of the roll. Meanwhile Citeh being held at home 0-0 by Wolves with 7' to go in ET.
Elneny should have been sent off and a different ref absolutely could have called that penalty shout.
A pretty fortunate result. I was disappointed with the senior players. El Neny, Coq, and especially Walcott were pretty terrible. Norwich missed several good chances. It was nice to see a youngster come in and make a huge difference in the game. I really enjoyed hearing the crowd chanting "Eddie Eddie Eddie". Also, did you notice all the addiction commercials during half time? Maybe I do have an addiction to Arsenal FC.
You aren’t getting my point. This ref let a ton out of physical play go on both sides. I generally don’t like that style, but for once it worked in our favor. The pen appeal seemed like a dive on replay, though not as bad as the Watford incident. Neither was as clear as the calls we didn’t get against Stoke.
Were there any game-changing non-calls against Norwich? A pen or a red card, which were arguably givable but which were not given?
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying this ref wasn't all over the place: he was letting a ton of physical play go on both sides. It doesn't make sense to look at whether an incorrect call is game changing or not: the question is whether it was correct, and if not, why? Here, it's because the ref decided that the game should be played according to rugby rules. I get annoyed when refs let a ton of physical play go against Arsenal, but book Arsenal players for the first foul they commit and call BS penalties against us.
OK. But what @ArsenalMetro and I are saying is that the ref was VERY generous towards us on big, potentially game-changing fouls... which he didn't call. That, coupled with the fact that I can't recall any similarly important fouls by Norwich which he didn't call, makes me feel that we were QUITE lucky today. On another day, or with another ref, we could've easily been down to 10 (or 9) men, and also had a PK against us. Sometimes you need to ride your luck, and today I think we did.
giroud was molested by two different fellas on a dead ball that they ignored. zimmerman (i think?) shoulder blocked maitland-niles face that they ignored. some of walcott's offsides were, at best, questionable (especially first half).
