Sanchez better be careful not to get a 2nd yellow for simulation. This ref could easily give that to him. And he's too important for us to do without. He's lost the plot this 2nd half. Frustrated by his relatively poor play perhaps. Edit: FT whistle saves his ass. 1-0 to the Arsenal.
Whew. Can't comment on the play since I didn't see more than the last 10 mins, but it's 3 pts. and so the team is restoring some momentum. Absolutely vital going into the weekend. Now to assess the injury report of the team.
Why is it that in England you cannot even raise a hand in anger (even if you don't make contact) without getting a red card, but players can look a ref in the face and yell, as loud as they can, "f-ck you" without consequence?
They tried the "Respect" thing a few years back. Problem is that referees don't have the spine to discipline players and make an example of someone. This stuff'll stop the next time a referee sends off a prominent England international for mouthing off.

Assuming we plan to stick with the 3 man back line, does anyone think we should cash out on Bellerin and go after a more natural box to box RM?
I don't think we'll stick with the back three, but if that's a long-term plan for the club, a player like Bellerin has absolutely no role to play in the future. So yes, we should do what you said.
Just heard a clip of Wenger's post-match interview and I had a big laugh when he defended Sanchez when Fuchs intentionally threw it into Sanchez's shoulder. Wenger said Sanchez didn't know the rule of having to stand a certain distance away. (2 meters) Hello? That's a ridiculous comment. That said, I figure Fuchs could've/should've received a reciprocal Yellow for intentionally throwing the ball at Sanchez from about 1 meter away. Sanchez had a poor match, except for perhaps his shot off the crossbar, right before HT. And his frustration and antics in the final 10 minutes were in stupid abundance.
if we go with 3 at the back, we will start seeing Bellerin look world class. He is the prototypical wing back.
Sanchez, really wasn't cautioned for simulation. He was sanctioned over unsporting behaviour the moment he did not keep the minimum 2 m distance, from the point where the throw-in was taken. Anyhow, the only sanction possible that Fuchs should have received, if judged as having a violent conduct, is being directly, sent off. Violent conduct, is no longer sanctioned with yellow cards. For the case, throwing the ball directly to an opponent without real intentions to actually play the ball, in a reckless manner or with excesive use of force, by all means as it is written in the laws of the game book, is regarded as having a violent conduct. The referee of the match, simply decided to not consider this throw in, as being reckless or with excesive use of force, in which case, is perfectly legal to throw the ball intentionally over an opponent, specially if he pretended to play the ball himself, after it (very doubtful, in this case, though, as his whole face and body expression during the whole play, wasn't preciselly the type you would expect of someone not being mad at someone in particular, whom also happened to be the same guy whom received that blow).
Fuchs could have just as easily received a second yellow for unsporting behavior for throwing the ball at Alexis.
Throwing the ball to an opponent is perfectly legal, if he pretends to play the ball after (the thrower can only touch the ball, after someone else has touched it first). Throwing the ball and being the first to touch it, after, would be afterwards called as a bad throw in, in which case the other team takes the ball. The only requirement here, so the play can be considered valid, is that the throw must not be in a reckless manner or with the excessive use of force, in which case, can injure the opponent and would also be called as violent conduct. For the case, if it happens to be reckless and/or with excessive use of force, even if he doesn't hit the player, for the sole action of attempt in doing so, he could be judged as having violent conduct, and being sent off for it.
Hope so. In limited minutes in this formation he doesn't look too impressive. You can see his natural tenancies to get up and involved in the offence. When he plays a 4-man RB he gets lost up top and doesn't get back as quickly as he should at times. When he is pushed up the field in a RWB or RM role that flaw in his game seems to be magnified.
i . . . wait, what? you don't think a la masia-trained winger/wingback that we converted to fullback would make a viable . . . wingback?!?
