Oooooooooooh. Great lob in by Sanchez where Bellerin made a GREAT run down the middle. Sorry he didn't get rewarded there.

Giroud warming up, likely to replace Welbeck.

Had to turn the volume down because I got a call, and ended up seeing but not hearing both goals.

Gotta admit, I think El Neny didn't do bad today. He was everywhere IMO.

Martinez with a good save from a solid Lanzini shot. Which begged the question - Defense anyone?

I'm not usually harsh on referees but this match has to be one of the worst ever. I thought Atkinson was better than that

Should have had two penalties today. Atkinson lets a LOT of contact go.

Is Atkinson that bad or does he just let a lot of contact go?

Meanwhile Aaron Ramsey gets 10 minutes of playing time!!

But Gabriel goes down in a worrisome heap?

Giroud! Sweet shot. Gets time in the corner of the box, tees it up and sets it into the far upper corner.

First time Arsenal have looked comfortable in a while. How bad are WHU?!

Another fine save from Martinez. Straight on from outside the box but had a defender cross his view.

    Should've been another penalty.

If this ref had one more eye he'd be a cyclops.

Meanwhile. Someone had to go and mention Tottenham, didn't they?!

I think there were 4 in total that where obvious pens.

He had a shocker. Unless Sajid is right that he was on the take.

A very bad situation any way that you look at it

    FT. 3-0

Glad for the defence to get the shut-out. Martinez did his job, thought Mustafi and Gabriel paired well today while Bellerin and Monreal were both their better selves. Nacho twice should've been granted a penalty but we saw how that turned out.

Elneny and Xhaka both did well today, too.

Not actually saying he is. Just saying his performance was so one-sided (like all the shoulder barges) that it's not the craziest question that could be asked.

Then again, satire is the new prescience:

I can't think of any reasonable explanation for the last non-call

It happened right in front of him with an unobstructed view.

Monreal clearly beats the defender, who then off his feet and uncontrolled, goes straight through him and takes his standing leg out?

For me the penalty business remains one of the fishiest aspects of premier league reffing.

Good performance against a dreadful hammers side.

    Random thoughts.

Ozil looks miles better in a short space of time e.g compare to his 20mins for germany or vs City

What i wonder about with this new Welbeck formation is that Ozil is also playing virtually as a forward - not sure that will be sustainable vs a better team, though Welbeck does a lot of defensive work

I wonder if Wenger will rejig to bring in a 3rd midfielder vs better teams?

IMO Nenny is a better midfielder than Coq as he can pass the ball and has a positional clue.

But I just wonder if he is actually good enough.

With so much attacking fire power you kind of feel this team needs a double 6 approach right now with two guys to stablise the defence.

I wonder if it would also be better to scrap monreal in favour of a solid left back who stays at home, and attack more with bellerin as the right wing back and ozil/alexis sharing the left wing

He's always been suspect as hell.

Just not as bad as Dean, Dowd and Webb

If you ask me it is still utterly bizarre that such a tiny group of guys ref so many games. There are only 13 refs with more than 10 games. Why the hell is this?

Ozil, was that you? or a Doppelganger, since you are german, right? Best performance I've seen from him in months, and how a number 10 inour systems SHOULD play. Santi was a better number 10 in 12/13 when he first came, but then Ozil impressed for me and was motm.

martinez looked decent. the entire defence was good, even Gab. Mustafi looked strong and Monreal was great too. Xhaka played very well, and Elneny was his usual tidy/neat self. Alexis was OK, and Theo gets too much stick. He has 20 in all comps now, and could well break his all time scoring season (23 in 12/13).

Welbz was quiet, but Giroud was OK.

SOme good wins at Palace and Boro could put us in a decent position.
