As an American, I wouldn't exactly want the pre-season tour to be here this year. As others have stated, many of the players will be resting from the Euros/Olympics. It'll be a bunch of reserves and young players. Though watching Squillaci in person is a hard offer to turn down.

Another thing: I once heard Wenger say that it is hard to tour America because Man U and Chelsea go there every year and it is booked.

I find that quite hard to believe.

This is good for the Nigerian supporters. Plenty of Gooners there and everyone should get a chance to see their club live. I wonder if the Asian tour this year had an adverse effect on the team though, so maybe pre-season tours aren't the best idea.

American support is more important than Nigerian support for the simple fact that American fans tend to have more disposable income, which would translate into more money made by the club.

If we aren't going where the money is, we are just wasting our time.

And whats the point of this money if its only lining the coffers of the directors?

As for the America V Nigeria statement, amount of Africans into Football v Americans into Football ??

Most tickets sold to the S.A. world cup- U.S.A. So Americans with discretionary income into soccer >>>> Africans with discretionary income into soccer. Right now people mostly buy and wear Barca and Man U shirts because of both the success and marketing of those teams. There are literally millions of soccer playing kids who want the jersey of their favourite team- but Arsenal is pretty invisible because of the lack of marketing.

But no point in coming if the stars don't come. So plan it for another year.

we are pretty invisible because we havn't won anything in a few years and we don't have a marketable 'superstar'

usa had the most tickets? how is that so? where is the proof?

I was just thinking also how this Sunday, the Arsenal-ManU game will be on national broadcast television in the US. That doesn't happen for regular season baseball, basketball, or hockey.

    yes it does

all the big 4 sports leagues have national TV games on Sundays.

Fox is doing it this week because its two well known clubs and because its live programming on a Sunday morning that they do not have to pay for much production for. They wont lose that much money, imo.

Plus they are going to bid for the World Cup in the future.

Do they? Shows how much attention i pay. I guess Fox does show baseball? I thought NBC only showed one hockey game a year, and i couldn't even tell you what channel shows basketball now, i thought it was all on ESPN and TNT/TBS.

Haha, you said NBC instead of NBA! Which is funny, because i only remember weekend games from when they were the "NBA on NBC", which was a long time ago.

Anyway, getting further off topic, is anyone showing the ACN over here? ESPN3?

We should probably start an ACN thread as well.

lol at that error. yeah, thats where my mind is. Would rather the NBA go back to NBC. They did a better job than this ESPN/ABC monstrosity.

Although the trend now with sports programming is to put it on their cable outlet.

Are you suggesting that playing one game in Malaysia and one game is China means we should not go back? I suspect that we would need to put in a lot more work than that.

Which is why I'd have the club tour Asia again one out of the next two summers. The other summer I'd want Arsenal in the US for all the reasons mentioned earlier.
