I've given up on Johannsson ever being healthy enough to help the USMNT, but I'm happy for him that he's at least fit enough to get on the bench and hopefully continue a professional career into next season (with someone).

confirms that he's out of Bremen in Summer that he would like to play 1 more time for Bremen but that it's questionable. https://www.deichstube.de/news/aron...hr-traurig-bundesliga-transfers-12239671.html also seems like he still wants to stay in Germany and play 1BL but looking at his options.
I'm not sure why any Bundesliga team would take him on. Maybe he's still good enough, maybe he isn't, but a player that's so unreliable due to injury isn't worth taking a plunge on. The only situation that makes sense to me at that level is if a newly-promoted team gets him on a free and signs him to a contract that's almost entirely performance-based. Even then, he's going to be on a really short leash.
yeah...do they deals like that in germany though? when healthy ArJo HAS shown that he is indeed good enough...but thats only like 10% of the time...which is insanely low.....
It's even worse, somehow. Since joining Werder in 2015, they've played 13,410 minutes. Johannsson has played 995 minutes, which is 7.4% of the available minutes. Ouch.
Sounds like the approximate percentage amount for a US striker in the B1 nowadays....I’m here all week, folks.
hmm..not bad ...i was only off by 2.6% in my off the head estimate. on second thought....how many minutes was he healthy and fit for? that's really all that matters in terms of signing him to another deal.... wonder what the contract would look like: if you hit 20% availability for selection, you get a salary. if you hit 50 blah blah...
If he can't find a Bundesliga team, going to a top 3 Dutch team wouldn't be a bad option (Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord). Already had much success there with AZ. And Ajax is proving they can ball in Europe, but much of their team will be sold this summer. Otherwise, like Danny Williams, I'd like to see him give MLS a go and get himself back in the USMNT picture. I don't see a Premier League team taking a chance on him (other than Championship, maybe.) Leagues like Belgium or Denmark would be too much of a step back for him.
That was a disastrous signing for Bremen, and a horrible time of it for Aron. Hopefully the man can find himself a home.
I'm sure some MLS team would take a chance on him and give him $150k, one year contract, with performance-based incentives and a club option year or two if he pans out.
He might get more than $150k, but there's not a club in MLS that would give him anywhere close to $500k--in his first year at least--given his near-perpetual injury status for 4 years running. The salary and roster structure doesn't allow for that sort of gamble.
No team in any league will take the sort of gamble that Aaron would represent, unless 70% of the salary is linked to him passing a fitness test. Even then, why have him around? If he's fit, sure. But if he's not, he's going to be taking up a lot of bandwith, and space in the treatment room. If I'm a director of football, I'd offer a 6 month deal with a club option for another 12 months. Nothing more.
