C'mon man. Let's have some perspective here. Rehab for a young healthy professional soccer player for a major club in Europe is still a pretty pleasant set of circumstances compared to what the other 99% of people deal with on a day to day basis. Let's not play any violins for the guy. For sure, he's had a really difficult run of injuries, but he's still living a pretty charmed life.
http://bundesligafanatic.com/201807...g-to-break-into-crowded-werder-bremen-attack/ Great article in AJ’s Yank ‘mate Josh Sargent’s chances this year and in the article I read this...... Wonder how legit that rumor is especially with the latest injury.
In another dimension, a legendary USMNT takes the field... ****crashing thunder**** At midfield John O’brien And Stewart Holden At forward Aron Johansson... Who else am I missing? Edit: Rossi would of been in there
Onyewu, Cory Gibbs, Ben Olsen Edit - and while John O'Brien became kind of the poster boy of "what if" injured USMNT players for obvious reasons, I hope people don't forget that he did, in fact, play in 2 World Cups and was sensational in the first. Not sure we could have realistically expected a lot more, even if he had been healthy. His injuries derailed his club career more than his national team career.
I mostly agree, although his second World Cup was the last 45 minutes of a blowout and left him injured again.
that injury timeframe sucks for him. Sounds like even from recent reports, Bremen intended on selling him off this Summer. Not only because they are packed in attack but because he has an expiring 2019 contract. now the question, will they even bother giving playing time in Oct? Will they try to sell him off in Winter to make some money?
Can’t imagine MLS doing that unless some kind of a loan deal with WB paying most of the salary. Taking on an injured guy who has played a total of ~1000 minutes over last 3 seasons is probably not something clubs are clamoring to do.
Why would MLS clubs pay money to a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning without fracturing his metatarsal? Maybe you give him a "pay as you play" deal.
If the contract runs out next summer, they just missed their last chance to sell him, really. He can sign a pre-contract in jan, and while that won't allow him to move and play with someone else, he is injured, Although, by the same reasoning WB would probably let him walk for free to get the contract off their books.
