Rumor has it, Raul Bobadilla is gonna be called up for Paraguay. I think either his dad or both his parents are Paraguayan.

Pupi if he can should turn his head around, as he is not a bad prospect at all.

True, I believe Inter are even making a bid for him. I think he will do good there. Plus he can play with his idol.

Come on Pupi make him return to the path of light. ;) Inter were considering a bid but Moratti has tied the purse strings so they have held off bidding for him. Maybe this summer along with Pastore.

Throw in Chaco Giménez, played for Mexico last night. Damián Álvarez was also called up for Mexico.

Chacho Gimenez, Damian Alvarez, Ortigoza, Santana, Barrios, Fabbro, Osvaldo, etc. wouldn't be aaaanywhere near the NT radar.

Just look at how hard it is for a crack like Lamela to get a chance.

According to Osvaldo, besides Messi, he can compete with anybody on our NT.
Yeah, and it was Diego who called him. I believe it was Diego who called over 100 different players during his tenure.

Spain keeping a close eye on Fede Cartabia, the 20-year-old Argentine playmaker who debuted this season for Valencia and scored 2 goals for them yesterday for the Europa League. Del Bosque already contacted him to ask about his citizenship, supposedly:

Who was that kid, I believe he was also from Rosario, I think he has decided to play for Italy. I think he got robbed last year while back in Argentina. Still a young kid, probably no older than 18 or 19.

Okay, it seems like Fede is saying that story about the gallegos trying to call him up is not true.

"Hoy @FCartabia desmintió en @Radio9am que Del Bosque lo haya llamado para su Selección. No sé a quién habrá entrevistado la gente de Olé."

Chile wants Mauro Zarate for the world cup. His dad is apparently chilean.

    http://tn.com.ar/deportes/esencial/...arate-jugando-para-chile-en-el-mundial_455152

I know Zarate has had plenty of off field issues, but there's no doubt in my mind that talent wise he is way better than both Polacio and the muerto Lavezzi. Would be a good pick up for Chile for sure.

Not saying Zarate should be in the Argentina side, but there's no doubt in my mind that if I have a fully focused and motivated Zarate I'd take him all day before Palacio and Lavezzi, both huge failures for Argentina.

I like Zarate even with his off the field antics or his attitude, he is a real talent. I am glad he is back home and giving something positive about the league. He always has had the talent, and if you look at his first season at Lazio , you can tell he was a man on the mission, led them to a Coppa Italia. I believe one time Italia were also looking at him as well. He can give Chile another weapon, it would be nice we had some games that only played the local sides so Sabella can take a last look at players but that is that.

His gol in the Derby Capitolino.

I was stuck in Denver during that game, watched most of it while bored to death on the "dreadmill" so I payed close attention. I have to say he played very well, very solid that one game. No hesitation, good in the air, and the fact that Spain's Brazilian talisman of the moment, Diego Costa, did precisely dick that day should rightfully be attributed to Paletta covering his ass like Stink on crap. I wouldn't mind having that cat I saw on that field that day playing for the AlbiCeleste.

I did not watch the game because both teams put me to sleep but I too read positive things about his debut. However, once you have decided to wear another countries jersey, that is that in my book(Unless you are Diego Costa who gave it to the brasucas ;)). Paletta won a U20 with Messi and Kun and forgot all about that when he took the first chance to play at a mundial. His great-grandfather is his lineage, Murito Zárate who's father is Chileno turned down the opportunity to play with Chile in hopes one day he can play for the selección, that is something you can respect.

I have to disagree with you a little bit man… I can respect Paletta for choosing to play for Italy (choosing to put on the boc* shirt is a different matter) Look at it this way… He's an Italian citizen, he plays in Italy, if they call you, why say no? I think its a perfectly respectable decision… I mean, Italy is one of the most prestigious national teams of all time… 4 world cups, only 1 behind brazil.

Plus, if you ask anyone who follows Serie A, I guarantee you 99% of them will rate Paletta much higher than Fernandez… Yet Fernandez played for Estudiantes and gets called up… Much like the muerto Rojo.

If you're going to be completely ignored by a NT coach, why not? He's 28, he'll be 32 by the next world cup, I don't blame.

Like wise, I think Zarate's decision is fine…. But lets be honest… Chile doesn't have the pull of playing for Italy. Sure, Chile is really good right now, but choosing to play for Chile is like choosing to play for Paraguay or Mexico… You're resigning yourself to a much lower level…

Both decisions are fine, its a multicultural world you can play for whoever you want… Much like I don't think of Di Stefano or Trezeguet or Camoranesi or any Argentine who played for a European nation a "vende patria"

As for the likes of Ortigoza or Barrios or Chaco Gimenez or el Guille Franco… Well these people are just sad who played for whoever gave them a bite to eat.

Not that hard to obtain an Italian passport and be a citizen. I believe most of us here can obtain one. I just found his comments quite comical "“I grew up in Argentina. My loved ones are there, my son Sebastian was born there. But I feel Italian if I think about my great grandfather’s dream. He wanted his kids to go back to Calabria with some extra money in their pockets, to say he’d done what he’d set out to do. In a certain sense, wearing the blue [of Italy], would complete his journey.” It is as if he wrote this down and memorized it. All it was missing was "Once Upon a time" and "Then End", nighty nighty Seba. I get the fact that he has to say the right things, and he is playing politics. If Sabella calls him up, you don't think he will take it?. If he had a choice of picking Argentina or Italia, we all know he would take Argentina in a heartbeat. This is similar to Icardi, there were talks that Italia were going to give him a cap but that all changed when he called him up and gave him a cap in a qualifier for the last 2 rounds of the qualifiers. Then there was rayado Osvaldo, who went on and on to say how a friendly for Argentina would mean more to him than playing a world cup for Italia. He(Paletta) settled for the Azzurri. When Camoranesi was asked why he did not sing the national anthem, he said because he wasn't Italian. They can have 10 stars on their shirt but they will continue to call up Argentines and Brasilians and not bat an eye.

I knew Sampaoli had tried to tempt Zarate (who rejected the proposal), but I didn't know he had already called up Argentine AMF Pablo Hernandez, ex Argentinos Jrs. and Atletico Tucuman, for a WC-preparation friendly vs. Costa Rica.

Turns out he scored 2 goals in that match and has a good chance of going to Brazil. Go figure, who would have thought? I guess he's doing good in Chile playing for O'Higgins. He had already shown his talent in some really good performances with Argentinos Jrs, but I never thought he'd somehow end up playing the World Cup in June.

    Good for him.
